I have a juvie pullet that has a swollen crop. It is soft, and feels pretty empty, but it is huge! I tried to empty it of all the air, but not much came out. Just grain in there, I think. I cleaned the waterer and added ACV and a little molasses. Also added to other puddles around the yard. I put a few drops down her throat.

What else can I do. I am not going to do surgery, or tube her crop. I did pay a bunch for this pullet and I am going to be really mad if I loose her, but, honestly, I am just not up to heroic measures.

I looked around the BYC, but not much there. I don't think it is impacted. I think it is sour crop, but maybe some of you have had some experience with such a thing??

Thanks for any advice.

Flush 1 teaspoon epsom salt in 1/2 cup water, 2-3 times a day.
Followed by 1/2 teaspoon copper sulfate in drinking water (non-metallic waterer)

Hi,
I'm new to chickens but I used to raise cockatiels and quaker parrots.
When I had a baby with sour crop I would flush with warmed lactated ringers or pedilite (SP) then feed yogurt to help with the bacteria.
I'm sure a Person with chicken know how will help ya too.
Best of luck with her
Rhonda
