My 12 week old australop roo is acting pretty docile and his crop feels like its full of fluid. Doesnt smell as bad as others say though. Last night i moved him into the house massages his crop a few times and gave him grit and water with just apple cider vinegar. This morning i thought the fluid was going down and he was crowing quite a bit. I gave him clean regular water. Now i feel like his crop is fill of fluid and hes getting docile again. I dont feel comfortable inducing vomitting. Not sure what my nexts steps should be. Any suggestions are are appreciated.

Is he pooping?
The crop feels like it just has water in it? When you massage it do you feel anything like a clump of grass or something that made need to be broken up so it will pass?

I would make sure he has plenty of water to drink. I would start by giving a teaspoon of coconut oil, then massage the crop several times a day, try to break up anything that you feel in there. See if that helps.

What do you normally feed and does your flock have a source of grit? Do they free range?

Yes he is pooping and yes they always have grit still on chick grit. Also on Purina’s chick starter. They don’t free range too too much. They are in a secured run. When I massage his crop I just feel liquid and grit. Lots of grit. He’s crowing quite a bit today and maybe a little more active

I would take the grit away for the time being, it sounds like he has some. Make water available, massage the crop and see if you can get that to go down.

Does his poop look normal? Have you had any illness in your flock? Anyone have worms, coccidiosis or infection?
