Sour Crop

Ok tomorrow I will check her as early as I can, today it was hard again, but I think she may have laid an egg.
Is that a good sign? I just think it was her because it had a very weak shell that we just threw it in the compost. We are going to get vet wrap or something like that on Monday because she or one of her flock mates destroyed her bra, I walked in on her looking like this:

It was hanging down, I guess they pecked through that white fabric. We didn’t have any coconut oil or stool softener, but we will get some on Monday as well.

Martha is doing better! (I think) Her crop is getting smaller and I made a bra for her out of some cute bandana fabric and self adhesive tape. The tape is not very sticky so I just tie it and when ever I go out to the coop, I adjust it. She´s always eating food though. I think next time I give them a treat, I will move her into the small coop.

This is very late but i couldn’t sign back into my account...

I had a note about it but i can’t find it now. Martha passed away. She started getting smaller and then all of a sudden she got very large, could barely walk, got pneumonia, was spitting up, then passed away peacefully.

Thank you for all your help! We made it as far as we could!
I'm sorry to hear about Martha :hugs
Thank you for coming back and updating the thread.

Hi! I’m sorry I haven’t been on here in a while but I just wanted to let you all know that you were all very helpful and I am so thankful for your advice and experience. I am sad to inform you that Martha died yesterday. A week prior to her death, her leg was caught in her crop bra (her leg was never a problem in the end). My grandparents took the bra off and left it off for a couple days until I saw her without it on. In that time, she got her sour crop back. She spit up as soon as I picked her up and she smelled bad. We put her in our separate coop and gave her regular food and water. No treats, no ACV water. She spit up in her water as soon as we put her down. We gave her fresh water and the next day she was not looking good at all. Her bra was too small now so we put a bandana on her with binder clips. Her eyes just looked sick and she couldn’t get up. The next night, she passed. We now have 12 chickens and she will be missed as she was one of the most friendly chickens we had. I don’t think we will get brahmas again because we noticed that the buff brahma we have is also a very big eater and we don’t want to have a sour crop chicken again.

Brahma are big eaters so it might be normal eating you are seeing. I didn't notice if anyone had shared this article by @azygous about sour crop and impacted crop. It saved my Roopecca's life.
