Hi all,
I have a 3 yr old barred rock with sour crop. I have withheld food for 24 hrs, she has has water with ACV and I have tried garlic water. Her crop keeps swelling. When I massage her in a downward motion, she Spees clear liquid. She does not have any white in her mouth. Her comb was turning purple, but it looks better, but she’s lethargic. Any suggestions?
Should I start Greek yogurt tomorrow or scrambled eggs?
Thanks for any input.

Is her crop puffy and soft, and still that way in the morning? Does she have a bad or sour odor from her beak? I would not massage a soft puffy crop since it can cause crop contents to come back up into the throat and aspirate. Miconazole, Monistat cream given orally, Medistatin powder in a little water, or fluconazole are all anti-fungal treatments for sour crop. Azygous has a good article on treatment:

Are you sure she has sour crop and not slow crop, or impacted crop or even a partial impaction?
Below are two very good articles that should help you decide what you are dealing with and how to go about sorting it out.

Great articles- thank you! It’s either slow or sour crop. I’ll follow the directions for that.
