Shell: put an old comforter or blankets on the floor. Don't use laminent, I've tried that, it swells, didn't work, slippery too. Concrete slabs work, 2 by 2 ft.

What about let them eat for bit, put the food up and then again. Mine seems to eat constantly. Good way to keep her crop from filling up to much. If she pooping, she may pass the feathers. Mine is sneezing a bit during the day. Not much. I wouldn't think splatty poop wold be fom the mushed food.

woops meant lino not laminate!! mine pooped what they ate lol looked the same coming out! when bombie was separate the others had pellets and their poop went back to normal. having said that bombie has done some runny ones and some normal and shes only had mushy food! idk!
bogtown- i woder the same but just bit worried about putting anything in that fizzes and then vomiting her cos when i gave canesten before that foamed and when i vomited her it was terrible!all white foam came out her nose and eyes!i thought she was gonna die in my arms! thats why i thought warm water and then maybe alka seltzer to leave in there over night. i just keep changing my mind!cant decide whats best to try.ill disscuss with vet tom and ask his advice then make a decision. def agreesomething like that for removing any lining in the crop.
havnt figured out a tshirt yet still thinking on it but hoping crop bra arrives this week. that should cover the feathers on the chest which seems to be the ones she eats. my husband saw her preening earlier and said she was dropping the loose feathers on the ground so i hope the constant food is stopping her eating them. x

I tried that, didn't last, however, if you could bring it up about 3 or 4 inches off the floor on each side and seal the corners up that would work. There something you can get that melts lining that can fuse the corners together.

Her having lose bowels will help pass those darn feathers. Sounds like she is passing food through her digestive system.

thanks for the tip ill remember that. also i like the blanket idea i was wondering what i could put in the nest boxes that she cant eat and blankets are a great idea yes shes def getting some through cos the crop is smaller in the morning and she is pooping as i said but crops still slooshy and swollen in the mornings. so never completely empty. its so confusing. im blaming the feather eating but i do wonder i mean i thought maybe she just had really slow working crop and it would never return to normal but then she had a week of normal function and every morning it was flat and empty so something must have gone wrong since. maybe the feathers are partially blocking. idk ! ive never wanted x-ray vision so badly!!lol i emptied a little out tonight it still dosnt smell sour and some feathers came out.dont know if thats what she ate today thou or if they floated to the top! will see what tomorrow brings x

Polar Fleece would be a nice option. That stuff wears like iron and is easy to clean. Maybe have a couple to lay down so you can cycle through cleanings. Smaller squares for nest boxes. It's fairly cheap at Fabric stores by the yard, here in the states.

Linoleum is horribly slippery. I put it under my birds at night over the shavings. Then run down before they get off the roost so they're not slippin' and slidin' in their own pooh (that hasn't frozen yet) in the morning. It works great for chipping off frozen doo though. and keeping the coop shavings getting nasty too fast.

I understand about the Alka selzer. after seeing fizz come out of a chicken nose I might opt for less fizzy solution myself.

My birds, in their relative healthy digestive state will pooh loose and firm. I think it may be mostly just how much water they have on board. Some Sour crop posts have warned about the green runny mucousy looking ones being poop for concern. IDK.

My hen stated off with the green diarrhea, she was twisting her neck, I'm sure it was impacted and then went sour. Go to link and theres a picture. When I dewormed her the first time she hardly pooped. Much improved now.

I wonder too if some of the squeshiness is from the crop stretched and slowly Empting. I only smelt sour twice. Other than that, no sour smell. Maybe consider nyastan again if your thinking its sour.

polar fleece sounds perfect thanks for that ill have a drive down to the material shop this week.x
when i emptied some out tonight it wasnt sour just smelt like pellets but her crop is huge! i keep dreaming its empty in the morning then i wake up and its still full

From an outsider perspective. I think muscles of crop are stretched and not as effective (I think bra will help this) and possibly combined with a partial blockage. If she's pooing then stuff is getting through, though. I wonder if sour crop is over with and you've just got this ineffective crop working like overly used elastic with little stretch left to it. So food emptying is slow going. "Slow Crop" I think is where you are at with potential for Sour because of the slowness.

Also if crop does sour again, there is a more powerful antifungal: diflucan, which I think is more systemic...working through the blood stream as well. Where did I read that?! One of the threads or links, I guess. There's another more powerful too along with diflucan. Not sure if this higher level med is needed though in Bombie's case.

Checked on my hen and the girls are napping, I put a heat lamp out in the coop at the roosts and girls are liking it. I figure if she is cold she would get close to it. We're I live it's rainy and cold. The cement floor I don't think helps.

Have y'all thought about using sand in the hen house? I am considering switching to that after reading this article by the Chicken Chick:

I admit that I had NEVER thought of using sand IN the hen house!!! I like her ideas!

Edit to add, even thinking of using it in the nest boxes. Not real sure on that idea yet though. May still put the shavings in there.
