Sour/Impacted Crop *Newbie Here*

@NeuroticVirgo -- he is doing about the same. Drinking a lot without any real appetite. I got him to eat canned pumpkin last night and a soft oatmeal mixture today. His crop went from hard to soft to empty, so I'm hoping with all the fluids it just flushes his system.
Your hen still has a hard crop? You could try a dropper of olive oil and massage it. It honestly broke down my roo's mass within minutes while I massaged it. Water is supposed to work really well also so I'm betting the water will make a big difference too. And go figure about the vet, right? You would think that with all the people who have chickens they'd work with them as well!

Well she's looking better today. Now it feels a little smaller but a little more like maybe impacted crop because it's hard. Then again I did limit her water yesterday. I wonder if once I put the water back in she will swell up again from drinking a bunch. But then thats good if its impacted and not sour right, doesn't water help break it down? Called my vet...they don't do chickens. Every other farm Animal you can think of, but not chickens. Fml. I'm putting the Apple cider in her water today and just going to let her at it. (Since she went 1 day without and 1 day limited). Still haven't fed her solid food. She had some grit and yogurt yesterday and I massaged her crop a few times through the day. Nothing ever came back up. Her poops still look normal to me. And she had some solid ones last night but back to watery this morning. I don't know what else I can do. She definitely is over being cooped up but I don't want to let her outside where she can eat other things I don't control.

The yogurt was a good move and the apple cider vinegar will keep her yeast build up/bacteria under control. And you were right about the ratio of ACV to water.

First time I could actually feel things inside since this started! It still looks pretty large, and is it normal to be off to one side? However this last time while massaging it I could really press together and feel what was in there. It honestly feels like mostly grit or sand. No lumps though and no water balloon. This does make day 3 she has had no food (except small amounts of yogurt and olive oil)
400
should it still be this full?

Oh wow. Mine is not so noticeable and I dont really feel much in there but everythi I massage and press down a bunch of mucus stuff pours out her mouth. Its so nasty but I think its helping.

I was advised by someone with more experience than myself to try stool softeners to get the impaction to move from her crop. I'll post the link to the thread
