I forgot to say that I live near Wilmington, NC but can also order online.
I have been reading "Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens". I had read in there that scratch is good to feed when its cold outside because digestion raises their temp. I've seen it online a few times too. I didn't realize there was no scientific basis for this. I'll have to look into that more.
I also thought that it was strange when he recommended scratch as a full time feed since it wouldn't have all the nutrients they need.
