I've been watching peafowl egg auctions on ebay and eggbid- can anyone make a good suggestion for reliable source of eggs? I'm not looking for any particular color pattern either. I do like the green, but blue is fine too. I'm located in IL and plan on having them free range once they are adults. Must be cold hardy! (My feather footed chickens take the cold better than my Javas- but no feather legged peafowl yet!) Thanks for any info-

There is a bird swap next Sunday at the Kankakee fairgrounds.I have been told They have peafowl there for sale. I will be going to look for some myself.

The best source would be local I think. We have never had alot of luck with shipped eggs 50% was about the best we ever hatched from shipped eggs. Last year my husband bought some chicks and a pair of Emerald Spaulding from Tim Bow at Bows peafowl farm. http://bowspeafowlfarm.com/home.html They were great to deal with, no problems at all and nice healthy birds. I have always liked the solid white so he got me a pair of them last year for my birthday from a local breeder and ordered another 2 year old pair from Legg's Peafowl about 2 weeks ago. http://www.leggspeafowl.com/ Now i'm really doing the happy dance Brad Legg called yesterday to tell us they were on the way and about 30 minutes ago the post office in Rocky Mount, NC called that they were there and being put on a truck to Washington, NC and should be there around 2PM! This is going to be a long afternoon for me since I don't get off work until 5. I can't wait to see them.

having live birds shipped is expensive but I think it's worth it. Talking to Mr Legg yesterday he seems like a great guy and knows alot about peafowl
