Sources For Quail Egg Cartons?

I had this same thought last year, got the foam and everything. No matter what I did, I could not cut proper holes in it. Drills didnt work, the just spun the foam. The only thing that would remotely work was an apple corer. It wasn't worth the effort, so I just bought them already made! If you do figure it out, will you let me know?

Have you tried hole saws for your drill? I used to drill foam all the time at work. If you keep a slow speed and a little pressure on the foam it should work

Yes, that is what i used. The foam is so squishy!

These egg shippers already have the holes in them. They hold 205 quail eggs if I remember right.I leave the pieces from the holes down enough where the egg is not popping out of the top, place the eggs in just below the foam top piece. The hole cut outs also serve as extra protection on the bottom.I cut 2 pieces of cardboard, placed 1 on the bottom, then a flat foam piece,an egg shipper another flat, then the 2nd piece of cardboard, taped them all together made a little handle with tape, placed them in the box.The eggs didn't have any room to move,up and down or side to side..If I can find some foam shippers I will put this together and post a pic so you can see how I do it.

Here they are.I had to improvise as I only have the 205 hole egg shippers. The ones from oak farm gamebirds are 105 hole shippers. Here is what you will need.1 foam egg shipper,2 flat foam pieces(available from oak farms) and 2 pieces of card board(cut to the size of the foam shippers.put them together as I told you in other post 1 cardboard, flat foam, eggshipper, flat foam 2nd cardboard.Tape them all togather, note the little handle on the top center.Pack in box and ready to go..

YOU FORGOT TO ADD + SHIPPING TO THAT

TONY I AGREE THEY ARE VERY NICE AND DONT DOWN PLAY THE PRICE... BUT FOR FOLKS SHIPPING LOTS OF SHIPPMENTS THEY GET PRICEY... THE OP ORIGINALLY STATED HE WAS TRYING TO KEEP COSTS TO A MINIMUM, AS I UNDERSTAND... SHIPPING COSTS CAN REALLY EAT INTO AN OPERATION, ESPECIALLY IF SMALL. PERSONALLY I LOVE THE RED OAK TYPE FOAM SHIPPERS, BUT I CANT JUSTIFY USING THEM FOR COTURNIX... HIGHER DOLLAR EGGS PERHAPS? ORNIMENTAL PHEASANT EGGS? DEFINATELY... BUT TO SELL 100 COTURNIX EGGS ON EBAY... DOESNT WORK... THE EGGS SIMPLY WONT FETCH A HIGH ENOUGH PRICE TO COVER THE EXTRA COSTS OF THE FOAM SHIPPERS

AND IF YOU JACK UP SHIPPING COSTS TO COVER THE ADDED EXPENSE THEN NO BODY WANTS TO BID ON THEM... THE AVERAGE JOE DOESNT UNDERSTAND THE ADDED COST OF THE FOAM AND THINKS YOU'RE OVER CHARGING ON SHIPPING COSTS... ITS A DIFFICULT BALANCE
