Sources of xanthophyll?

Mine do not eat carrots and I've never heard of chicken eating carrots,

I've seen chickens eat cooked carrots, but they seem to ignore the raw ones. Maybe it's just that raw carrots are too hard for them to bite easily (or maybe not, I don't know for sure.)

So I thought that was the case, but this fall I pulled up a 4+ lb carrot long as my forearm, and I chopped off the top 3" or so of the root and threw the entire top in the chicken run. I had figured they'd just eat the greens. Lo and behold, they ate the raw carrot too. Took them a couple days of working at it to make it disappear.
