Was anyone completely mental during their pregnancy? The remote met the back of my dear sweet DH's head the other night for laughing when I involuntarily gagged at something on the TV. WHO AM I? I don't throw things at people. And then I cried about what an awful person I was until I went to bed. At 7:30.

I don't know how he puts up with me between my chickens and the Cletus Fetus (my husband's name is Cleve, so we call it the Cletus Fetus).

OMG! You turn hormonally mean and I was a sweet person when I was preggers. I suppose we all change a bit while pregnant.

Cleve will be scratching his head for the next year over your hormones.

I totally understand and I meet people whenever possible. This is why I don't like selling eggs from my Farm. Too many people coming and going as they please. Most people don't call first and it was to the point where I was afraid for my kids to be out in the yard if I couldn't be right there with them. I had one man stop because he saw the "Fresh Eggs" sign. He grew up here on this property and that sign made him feel comfortable enough to stop and walk around the yard. I was outside, caught off guard by myself. He made me very nervous and I could not get him to leave. My husband came home while he was still here and he finally left. This same man is now in jail, arrested only a few months after visiting my farm. He kidnapped, raped and murdered a girl and now they think there may be other victims too. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful. Most honest people will understand that you are just being careful. If they don't understand, too bad. I have to think about my children and I don't like bringing strangers here to our home. I'm really thinking of not selling chickens from here at all and just selling my eggs either commercially or shipped.

I am OLD and no kids here and do not get enough eggs to sell from here (YET

...lol) But I am and will try to still be cautious...So many strange aweful things happen now adays that a person would never dream ever happens! We have to remind ourself that everyone out there is not of the same neighborly friendly good-samaritan mentality as (most of us here on BYC) we are. I think if you ever feel uncomfortable around anyone in any situation then you are a GOOD Mother Hen and SHOULD be wary!!! Everyone be safe and stay safe and have a wonderful joyous Christmas!

Kimberly was telling me one was Fancy walking around the pen and I kept saying no, she is on the broody nest. Duh! Kimberly knows my Silkies better than I do! I opened the door and looked on the nest and sure enough it was not Fancy on the nest. It was definitely her walking around the pen.
She is just going through a molt and doesn't look as gorgeous as usual and I thought her less than perfect features was another one. Fancy is my best lady. And Kimberly knows a great Silkie when she sees one.

I, on the other hand, am a ding bat when it comes to Silkies.

I felt so scattered and I'm usually a very organized person. I also cried through every single Kleenex commercial that came on television. I tend to be a thrower of things so I can't help you there but.....I say do whatever makes you happy and blame it on the pregnancy. This is one time in your life that you can get away with most anything. Use it, it won't last forever.

Ahem......I saw people. Ghosts and such. Not scary at all but I saw a lot of transparent people. Totally weird since I do not believe in ghosts. Except the Holy Ghost, of course. But these were people I could see through and that was just the strangest thing but I knew it was from the pregnancy so did not freak out.
I did lose my sight a few weeks after I had delivered. But only for about an hour. Dr said it was low blood sugar. Uh huh. Me, low sugar. The person that eats anything sweet but I was nursing then and eating "better". Could have been. But that was creepy.

You've seen ghosts and still don't believe in them???

The year after my babies were born were really hard. I had all kinds of health issues and I know it was just hormones and such. I had hives, swelling of my hands, feet and face, hair loss .... the list goes on and on. It's a good thing Jackie didn't talk to us before she got pregnant. I think we'd scare her away. I never saw ghosts though I did have terrible leg cramps.

And less chance of bringing home chicken diseases.

Joy, thank you for confirming my thoughts. Or only neighbor is still some distance away and I really do not want people just showing up at the house. Once Lydia gets a little bigger it will be easier to transport birds and eggs to people but right now she is such a handful to get in the truck. The minute she is out the door she want to go see the chickens and play with the cat. I am having a time taking her anywhere with out a fit! (Jackie do not read this!) But it is all good and I laugh about it a the end of the day!

NEVER feel bad about being cautious for ANY reason!!!
