I love that I do not have a mother in law! Sorry for yours!
That is hilarious and my sister has a MIL like that.
Every time I went for holidays at their house I came home with a very sore tongue from biting it so hard. My patience is not very good.
Now my ex-sister in law.....I laid into her every chance I got when she said stuff. The last thing she said to us (over a year ago) I did let go though. I must be getting mellow. She said my DD's boyfriend was going to kidnap her and take her to Mexico to sell. Because, you know, that is what Mexicans do. I actually burst out laughing and thought I would bust a gut. She did not know DD's boyfriend nor where he was born but seeing his dark skin made her pass judgement. And this was a woman that wanted to be a pastor.
Yes, some holidays are going to be more dull now but much more peaceful. Today was nice. Even spent with the dark skinned kidnapper!
Susanne, you must have the patience of a saint. That is rich!
I have a MIL like that too. Yesterday was the first time I've seen her since last Christmas. My choice, I like it that way. She would also say something stupid like that about your daughter's boyfriend Amy. It makes my blood boil sometimes. I have no patience and actually break out in hives sometimes just from spending more than an hour with those people. My MIL once tried to lock my cat in the closet because it was time for dinner and, well.....can't have animals in the house when people are eating! Um....yes, my cat lives here - you are the visitor. He was a big old cat that was happy to sleep on his mat in the floor. Still makes me mad to think about it. I also have relatives that won't come here because I have chickens. That's working okay for me.
Sometimes when I see them they ask "still have all those chickens?" and I reply with "yep, just added another couple hundred to the flock"!
Amy - I love your remark about not having a MIL! My good friend who is divorced is dating again, the first thing I ask about her new boyfriend is if his mother is still alive and where does she live. For me, that would be a deal breaker now (if I was in the market to start all over anyway).
I have lots of catching up to do on here but I wanted to stop in real quick and wish you all a very Merry Christmas. It's been a nice day here (busy but nice). Yesterday we were all over the place for the family gatherings, today we stayed home and people came to us. Hope you've all had a nice time with your family (without too many inlaw incidents).
