But then, I do believe the one you gave me is gorgeous, too. I look at him every day and fall in love all over again. He gets nicer all the time. You had a very good crop with those boys! I really believe I am going to get some more excellent babies this year and thanks to you a bigger crop of awesome Mottleds.
I just can't wait to see what the kids turn out like. None of the girls that will go with him are laying now. Bummer! I am having chick fever!

I still have some duck to cook and may make it for New years with a different recipe. However, I have 2 huge rack of ribs from the deer so I will be cooking that as well. We may be poor but we are not hungry!

Thanks again Susanne...we enjoyed the visit and seeing your wonderfull birds!! Sorry about my son but like I said ,when he is off his meds he can be BRASH!! He is 13 and we have to take breaks so he can /will eat some! He is a good kid and super smart just loses manners when the ADHD is in full swing! We were lucky he was that calm today!LOL

I think our new boy will come into his own real fast in the small flock. He is being allowed to stay in the crate with the door open to come out on his own but I think he is planning on sleeping there tonight!I will check on him in a while.My ladies are super docile and should be real good for him!

No less than 6 relatives asked me when I was getting rid of the chickens when the baby comes. Did I miss something? I'll be on maternity leave for 12 weeks- I'll have even more time to get more!!!!

I had relatives ask me "Oh so you still have THOSE chickens" in which I replied.... "Why Yes I do, I enjoy their company better than most people"

The queasy can skip it. I usually skin chickens and ducks. For rare occasions I want 'smoked duck' and I scald and pluck those --- not worth the effort to me, but something different.

I was blessed with awesome in-laws. My MIL passed early in our marriage...4 years...and she was like a mom to me...and did not hesitate to call me her daughter. I now have the family duties that a daughter would have. Stressful at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.




PS - when pop picks on me, he sometimes refers to me as the OUTlaw.

I down sized a little, I believe Amy got a few birds from me then. After my daughter got a few months old we re cooped and I have been able to get back to about the same number of birds but it's easier with them off the ground.a lot less mess.how are the Millie hens working for you?​
