I down sized a little, I believe Amy got a few birds from me then. After my daughter got a few months old we re cooped and I have been able to get back to about the same number of birds but it's easier with them off the ground.a lot less mess.how are the Millie hens working for you?

They are wonderful!!!! Amy gave me a beautiful roo and I can't wait to hatch out some cute little ones in the spring.

When I had Leah, I had 10 crates of show dogs in my living room and my ex sister in law had lots of nasty things to say about that. Leah grew up crawling around with a lot of Boston Terriers and took her baby naps in one of the more cozy crates. Most all of my family was shocked but after all these years with a really healthy child that makes really good grades and is a good kid, I guess those dogs didn't "poison" her at all. LOL
Those chickens will help your child be healthy, not sickly. Geez! HOW did the pioneers ever survive???

Oh I heard all kinds of stories this weekend at the farm about what everyone would eat off the ground. apparently I learned how to share with one of my cousins by putting cheerios in my mouth then spitting them out and throwing them on the floor and he would go eat them. Brilliant. My mom has 5 brothers and my grandma only went to the doctor to give birth. Crazy!

She had really great stories about the leghorns they raised and thinks is hilarious that a single pullet can go for $100. She swears the silkies I showed her were dogs.

I know people who are germaphobes and thier kids are always sick...but the ones I know who let thier kids touch animals and play in dirt are always the healthy kids!! LIKE OURS!!

My son is super small but thats his ADHD meds...he made perfect attendance last year!!And I dont make him take them but the school can't handle him without!

My DH has ADHD. I can tell within about 30 seconds when he hasn't taken his meds b/c every single cabinet door will be open in the kitchen, and he'll be sitting at the kitchen table still trying to figure out what he was looking for. That was one of the marriage stipulations was to get on meds or I couldn't handle co-habitating!

I've hatched serama's. They are the tiniest, cutest chicks ever! And full of personality right from the start. Did I mention they are tiny? You will need very fine chick crumbles for them. I actually put the chick starter in my food processor and ground it up again so they could eat it.

I think I mentioned here about how much mud I have in my yard. Not sure what I'm doing wrong as we seem to have LOTS more mud than other people, even other chicken people. Maybe it's the large number of ducks that I have free ranging.

Anyway, I had a feed delivery this morning and the truck got stuck. Yes, REALLY stuck! Thank goodness for good neighbors as I had to call on mine to bring his tractor. Even with the tractor we almost didn't get the truck out. Poor delivery guy was here for 2 hours and now he loves my neighbor as much as I do. Thank heavens for good neighbors. It's nice to see some sunshine cracking through out there right now. But I just heard that we could see some snow showers in the morning!

Finally got that new addition to the family. So far she could care less about the cats or the chicks in the house. In a few minutes she will be helping do some Guinea Pig cages. Thank goodness she is smart. She took right to Leah and sticks by her side. It is her dog after all. She was one of those freebies on CL. She's not a puppy but is housebroke and a cuddler.

So far so good but it has only been 3 hours.

Let's just hope she doesn't like chicken before it is cooked! Or while it is still walking!

I did sell a porcelain d'Uccle roo youngster yesterday so that is one less in the house. I also sold my best Frizzle roo and gave away a buff Silkie roo. Gosh, BYC people are so cool!

I wrapped up 4 dz eggs and shipped them out this morning while it was pouring outside and I couldn't get out to do much of anything.

I have 4 new d'Uccle MF chicks hatched out this morning along with some blue Marans and Frizzles and a MFC chick. Never a dull moment. Now off to clean brooders and check to make sure no one has blown away!
