You and me both! I just started a fire in the fireplace. It will be nice to sit next to DH after dinner and cuddle on the couch in front of the fireplace and see who passes out, I mean stays up the latest

ETA: Took my final and finished another colleg course today. That's one more down and only 22 more to go until graduation

I'm so sorry!! The EXACT same thing happened when I added my younger girls to my little laying flock. I had a rough time with it. I work at an animal hospital and was able to get some oral amoxicillin that I gave to one of the girls because she developed an abcess where she got pecked. The others I didn't give antibiotics but just kept the wounds very clean and applied chlorhexidine lotion to it. They had gaping wounds on the backs of their necks and I was amazed how quickly it healed up. It is tough adding new birds to an established flock.

I dread it this summer when I add more. I do plan on almost tripling their floor space though when I add their new run on, so hopefully this will help give new ones a place to run and hide from the bullies!! I hope your girls heal up quickly!!

After that I'll have 22 left as well! Unfortuately since I'm doing the night program, certain classes are only offered during certain times...so it'll probably take me another 2 1/2 or 3 years to finish

BOO! I will be SO extremely excited when I'm done though!

I am so sorry for all the losses SC has had. It sure has been a bad couple of days. Welcome to the new SC folks. I too show dogs, so I am sure we have crossed paths. I also lived in Ca, many years ago, Anaheim.

I am alos tired of the cold, the heat must be turned on. To bad we cant have a fire, still need to get the chinimey repaired. So today Rooroo, was crowing, but it sure is a deep voice. I still think he needs to work on it, but it may just be his voice.

Boomer was the BEST fella!!! I am so sad with you but he was an old fella too! Just aweful cold last night that HAD to make him uncomfortable even with all that hair!!! plus the cataracs (sp) and hearing loss...poor Boomer just ran a good life and is hopping the Boomer hop now in doggie heaven chasing rabbits!!! LOL...Don't try to measure another against him because there will never be another! But If I were you...I would try to find a good yard dog SOON cause although I worry about my one skunk I cannot seem to "get" you have so many more predators out there that you never realized BECAUSE of Boomer!!! Don't wait...look for another yard dog NOW!!!

I have a split coop/run that is 2 halves each 12x16 with a pop door between...one side they roost on and the other is food/water/nest boxes.Last night my 2 BLRW gals that I had the attack on today were roosted in between on the pop door ledge and 3 of my origional gals were roosted on bar in front of nest boxes...I thought it was because of the BLRW gals and considered it a small victory that the 3 did not bully by them so I carried them out the people door(each side has one)and put them on roost where they stayed. Tonight the BLRW gals are not in there and those 3 are back on the nest bar sitting 2 and 1 separated...should I move them or leave them be?? I am worried about the one that is alone but the open parts are covered in plastic but no heat or lights in either side...will they move if they get cold?? I wonder why the sudden change on roost also??

I know it just seems like soo many problems...it has been a bad week in my chicken adventure,1st the chicks(8-9weeks) singe thier feathers on the heat light, then the rooster wimp drama(still not solved),then the BLRW attack, now roost issues and I lost MY AWSOME GUARD DOG OF 13 YEARS!!

I feel so lost...it has been such smooth going all summer/fall with little probs but all this at once?? Is this normal?? Or do I need to give up?? I just spent the last week putting in sand and doing improvements..they are all housed well and roomy...now this cold night has me so worried about the Juvies I moved out but they do have a light if they dont roast themselves first!
