Yeah, this person that said she would not hatch this winter still has eggs in the bator. Geez! I am so crazy. I am up to 2 brooders in the house and 5 brooders in the barn, all with lights.
I am glad you asked since that reminded me I had eggs to go from bator to hatcher today. I have Sizzles, bantam Cochins in blue base, one Marans and a few Mille Fleur Cochin.
However, I also have Iowa Blues due to go in the hatcher in a few days along with more Marans, Sizzles, some Frizzles, bantam Cochins.....then in another week I have another tray of about the same and 4 days after that I have some of the same but I have now added some Olive Eggers and EEs to the mix.
Yup, I really stuck to my guns about not hatching through this winter.

Amy, you are a wonderful example for us all to follow--and I will probably be following you in another few weeks because that is all I can stand with this idle incubator thing!! I need to hatch eggs!!

Nicole: Didn't daddy tell you no hatching til spring?
Me: NO .
Nicole: I am pretty sure he said NO Hatching.
Me: He did not.
Nicole: DADDY! Didn't you tell momma no hatching til spring?
Me: tattle tale!
DH: Yes I did. I told you to wait til spring so you wouldn't have so much to ...blah blah....
Me: Shut up

Mary...sometimes my boys don't do the deed until they are about 10+ months old. I never see Gil do the deed. Never have seen him do the dance...but his girls give fertile eggs!

Thanks for the info. I do not want to resort to AI unless it is absolutely necessary. Neither of the white silkie eggs were fertile but even if they were, I will wait until they mature a little more to start hatching. I am anxious to see what I can hatch out of the wonderful birds. I love to go sit in the coop and just watch them. Some of the ones I hatched from Kentucky and Mary Robbins look good so far but none look as good as my white ones.

Gil's brother certainly does his deed because his girls' eggs are always fertile. I get excellent hatches from that pen. I never see him either. They must be shy. My bantam Cochins like to show me they are mating.

Dag nab it! I can't catch up with you guys on here! I am trying to read and post but can't find enough time!
I have been wrapping eggs, scooping meal worms and taping up boxes. Now just waiting for the time to go pick up the kid from school and ship out these 7 boxes. Sometimes Mondays aren't much fun....til I look at my PayPal account..... teehee! Then I want to look for eggs to buy! (slap hands....no, no, no!)
