Has anyone seen or heard from FarmerJohn? I was wondering how his Dominique adventures were going and his wife with her adventure! That also reminds me--How is Jackie? Has she been on here for a while? We need updates!!

I have no idea about Farmer John but Jackie is on FB more than here. A lot of folks that used to come on here are more on FB now. Jackie has a lot of friends that don;t get on here so she tries to keep up with everyone on FB.
So far she seems to be doing pretty good but is bummed because she was going to learn to snow ski this year and now can't join her DH on the slopes. She is enjoying her new puppy, Basil and I am sure is spoiling her rotten!

I have already put in for my cowboy kids!! Just a couple gals for my mottleds from Amy!! Oops I mean my sons mottleds from Amy!!

Alas, there will be no more Cowboy kids. He passed away yesterday morning. Not sure what happened other than his heart giving out. I had put him breeding with a flock of girls when he came back from Nella Bean's place and he fertilized those with gusto and then I decided to put him with other girls in another pen and noticed he felt lighter. He had been molting and was lighter when I got him back but I was sure that was from feather loss since he was not nearly as fluffy as before his molt but when I moved him I noticed he had lost an entire pound and that is a lot for a bantam Cochin so I watched him and after 2 days of him not showing much interest in the new girls I moved him to a crate and started him on meds but he wasn't eating. I forced some of the meds into him and he took it well, which is a bad sign anyhow. Yesterday morning I found him in his crate, still sitting up but very dead.
There was no coughing, sneezing, wheezing or anything. I would not have really noticed it if I had not put him in with new girls and after a short while of courting and breeding he started looking lethargic and never perked up. I watched him closely, held him and thought for sure he was coming down with something but there was nothing evident.

Anyhow, I have some of his offspring and Nella Bean has some of his offspring for sale so he lives on but not in the way I wanted him to. I had a lot of plans for him and hope the last of these eggs will hatch. I have his sister and she is doing well but the brat won't lay me any eggs yet. She is in with Ranger and I can't wait to hatch from them.
Cowgirl is pretty but not as full and round as her brother was.

Ranger should give me some stunning offspring with these girls from Nella Bean and a few others I added. I have a Cowboy daughter in with him, too.

Thank you Amy for the update on Jackie. Is she on the SC Swap site on FB? Or another site?

This would be my first show and I would enter Scrappy but he is OEGB and must be dubbed and I wont do it...I love his comb...
allthough those blue cochins from you are looking awsome...unfortunatly the feet feathers are rough from being on the ground..and flooded this week!

Your poultry farm is growing in leaps and bounds! You are going to have some of the best suppers in the next year, I swear! Now you need turkeys, too!

Amy, I am so sorry that you have lost Cowboy. And it's frustrating when you don't know why.

Yikes! Do your dogs bark all night? Mine bark a lot at night and last night, they were howling. Not sure what that means, but they are very busy at night. And then they sleep all day. That fox needs to stay away!

Yes my dogs bark but they're confined in a yard since I can't trust them with my birds. My dogs only howl when they can hear a siren of some sort. And that is a coyote in the picture but we do have a fox too.

So no update yet on my chicken disaster-ness. Going to give clemson extension a call today.

My chickens stopped laying again. I think this might go back to the whole illness situation. I had them free ranging for 2 1/2 weeks and am feeding fish food. Had 3 hens start laying. 2 of which have never laid before. Well, they were confined to their coop for a few days and the laying dropped and I haven;t seen eggs for about a week now. 0_o

My hubby says that there must be something gross in the coop that declines their health. Argh!

BUT...I have good news! I HAZ BABY DUCKIES!!!!

Got them locally. One is a Swedish Blue. The other is a Muscovy mix I think. :D

I love ducklings! I have 2 blue swedish ducklings growing up right now. Beautiful babies.
