Mary is the sweet lady with the honey of a smile! I suppose she needs T-shirts with her logo and farm name like I have so folks can find my truck and me.
Though you can't miss me when i go to shows! I am the one talking non stop with anyone that will listen.
But to find Mary, just go to the Silkie section and she will be there. Can't miss her sweet smile!

You know, after I posted that and read it again I saw that is what it looked like I meant!

I didn't! I meant he wants to love the chickens like his mommy! Not lick them like his mommy does! I pictured Nicole sitting on the ground, as she often does here, with a chicken or duck in her lap and licking it excitedly like Seeley would do! That had me LOL, too! But really, I did not mean it that way at all! You see how weird I can make things sound when I don't mean to!

And welcome to our crazy SC thread. We are a fun bunch of people and there isn't anywhere better on BYC than here.
Pull up a chicken crate, prop up your feet and tell us about you, your chickens and what all you do on your little spread of land. It is getting time to think about gardening and breeding season.

Of course, as I catch up I may see you have already elaborated but I want you to feel welcome here!

Thank you for the welcome!

We aren't doing any breeding as of yet. But I am very determined this year. Starting with a veggie garden. I am hoping to NOT have to buy any veggies (let alone eggs) at the grocery store very soon. I know its going to take time. But i can't wait for that first grocery trip. I am also eagerly anticipating my first freshly laid eggs. This weekend we are going to set up our composter and get rain barrels. and we plan on making a homemade solar dehydrator once those veggies start coming and in the fall an in-ground root cellar. So many ideas bursting from my brain. I swear, I was born a California city girl, but my soul keeps pulling me more and more into the country and towards a simpler way of life.

Awww! I wish my hubby felt good enough to do all those fun things! I want to do them but just don;t want to do them alone. I miss us doing stuff together. It made our marriage strong. You guys will have a lot of good times!

And that trip to the grocery.....we still walk past the eggs and milk and ask each other, "Need eggs?" LOL "Need milk?" And we are back to passing the diapers isle and saying "Thank goodness we don't need that!" We used to say that for so many years after we were married and then laughed a good one when we did have to start going down that isle. But after we got the kid housebroke we went back to saying "Thank goodness" because it can be a strain on a budget.

Have fun! Enjoy the work, the time will pass so quickly!
