Joycats...is there a way to tell the sex of a WCB Polish near birth? I have one pair that look pretty nice in my humble opinion that I posted pics of a while back....Heckle and Jeckle...here is a couple pics of their chick taken tonight...is there a way to sex them early?

The best way I know is to look at their crests. The hens will have a round crest and the roos will be oval shaped. It's pretty accurate but sometimes hard to tell which is which if you don't have one of each.

Also meant to say that this chick looks pretty round from the picture so I would guess hen. But that is a guess, pictures can be deceiving.

So am I missing something, I can't find the "edit" button. Is it gone or am I just going blind?

Yep...you and me both may be going blind...I edited this twice and still fuzzy pics...bit the chick may be the one that is fuzzy...I hope...

But thanks for your opinion of a hen/pullet/girl! I have been trying to get the "pair" a girl for a while! My thanks goes out to my DD hatching this one egg they have given me for a long while!!!

Now to get those couple Silkies inspired!!!

My polish and silkies are not laying at all right now. I keep checking but the nest box is empty everyday. I need to be hatching both of them. My bantam cochins are laying up a storm, they sure are dependable little birds.

I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful day! I did! Did family duties this morning, feed mill & Amy's this afternoon, & an auction this evening! I was so hoping to find some wire cages...but no luck.

We have 2 baby goats born yesterday....pictures taken today - they will probably go up on FB sometime tomorrow. I am tired now. These were babies #3 & #4 for 2010 - 2 were born the day before that!

I am getting so excited about this show at Newnan! How am I going to know any body? Should I wear a big sign around my neck? Hum, probably my DH would not go for that.... How about a little sign?

From what I hear...there will be a BYC banner or something up so we can find each other & make name tags Not sure where though.


I will hopefully be able to let ya know what I will be wearing....although I may change my mind 3-5 times that day!
