CrunchyDoc welcome to the SC Thread!!!!!

Oh Joy, Raisin is doing well!

She is still in with her silkie friends.

Oh, and I have to share a pic of my golden laced Cochin hen and her brood of silkie chicks. I let them out this morning for a romp--since the chicks keep getting out anyway. She is such a good mother.

Oh - Raisin is beautiful! She looks very regal standing there posing for the picture. I'm glad she's doing well for you. We'll get her some friends soon.

I spent part of my morning cleaning the Mille Fleur's pen. After seeing the wonderful coop Moonchild has I even added a branch for them. Wish I had a big rock but the closes thing would be a cinder block around here.

Emptynester--the little boy on the ground is the chick I got from you. The father is on the roosts with mom and sis. He has become a very pretty boy! And the sweetest one of them all!

Its funny, I put the bucket nest in the back corner and the girls look in it but only the two boys get in it and set there looking out. Wonder if they would hatch the eggs for the girls too!
Nice millies! And you may not have rocks but ya'll sure do have the prettiest snow white sand down there. I'll trade you a load of rocks for sand.

I know that but don't know what vet will do! I am not doing it! And still... poor boy!! LOL I even had to explain the tool to my son one day in TSC...He picked it up and asked...he is 13 so I told! The look on his face was hilarious!

DH is not going to work tonight - knocked himself out with Nyquil. He has a head cold and sounds horrible. DD was not sure about the age...will let you know when I find out!

Got my d'Anver trio today :) :) They are adorable! THANK YOU JACKIE! Can't wait to get them all set up in their new home. I have a pretty big tractor we built to grow chicks out in that is going to be theirs. Just have to clean it up and move it near the other coops! Pretty sure after only having them a few hours they're already my favorites (but don't tell the others!)

Here is an interesting page on disbudding

http://fiascofarm.com/goats/disbudding.htm

A vet friend of ours had their goat accidentally kill their horse, so i'm kind of like go for it, can it be worse than circumcision?

RobertH

We have had a lot of ours get heads hung in the fence. Until we went around the entire pasture with a second smaller block fencing. stupid goats.

IDK and don't want to know if it can be worse or not...don't want to try it.

Yancy, I do love the sand in my d'Uccles pen. It is so easy to keep the pen clean with it and it keeps their feet so nice and clean. About the rock--here in the low country there really are not any rocks, just sandy ground or swamp. I do wish we were closer to the hills where I could find some rocks, I think they would like one! Next road trip I am looking for one--DH is going to think I am nuts!

I am on a hill so plenty of them here.........want me to bring you some to Newnan?

HEY! Quite a few of us are up on this end of SC.

Northern Spartanburg County here!

What kind of chickens do you have?

Explain to me why you would sell a goat only to ask to buy the babies back 48 hours later?? Atleast I think thats what she was trying to delicatly do.Her DH had offered to buy any billies(when we picked her up) so we wouldnt have to worry about breeding issues but I do know about banding them!! She asked me today when I was going to sell them?? I had others want them but they are friends who love adorable babies...All I know is I am not selling the first baby goats born on my farm!!

On another note...I HAVE TO WORK TOMORROW!!...actually I could have said no but its at a school I dont get called to much.I want to stay home and sit in with the babies all day!! I hate being all grown up

Maybe they are concerned you will let it breed back to its mother. Who was the father of these kids? The mother may have been bred by a close related buck and they are worried about issues. It is funny that they are asking when they are trying to get out of the goat business. There must be some underlying thoughts going on there that they are not sharing with you.
