No problem Yancy! Just message me there when you have time. They are really my husband's, but I will find out answers for you. You need to come see me, the chickens, and the panels sometime

As far as the panels go, he says they pay about half our power bill each month. And I don't really think our power bill was nearly as much as most people's before we switched them on. We heat mostly with wood in the winter and keep our house pretty warm in the summer. . . our a/c is a geothermal groundwater cooling system (I think that is the correct terminology, lol). It makes me

when I hear people say their power bills are hundreds of dollars.

Nadine, I want some JGs too. . . just have the space problem right now. Ah, who am I kidding, I want just about every breed eventually.

ARRRRRGH Nadine....had a nice talk with your friend...I am down for eggs the week of the 17th....QUIT enabling me! LOL Course now that I am getting them I can't wait...and best thing is they are very close to me...only about 20 minutes or so away...

Too awesome, Snick!!!! You will so totally love them! And yup, I am an enabler.

I am making sure everyone gets all kinds of birds that they will enjoy, even if not from me. I love all my babies but sometimes they can't all stay. I am at least well grounded in that respect. It can be hard but even pretty birds taste good. Mostly I prefer to keep as many as possible while not having to put any in my freezer so to help out I make sure others have chickens, too. We all can have plenty of hens, it is the roos that can't stay. I have a few free ranging boys and then some of my boys escape from the trampoline pen during the day and free range, often getting into trouble. <sigh> That is when we have to make the decision to do the deed. But I would love to keep them all!

Talking about solar panels.....I would so love to get some! I think our roof would be great for some but DH doesn't want any on the roof. I can tell you I am sick of spending hundreds of dollars each month for power.
We are building a greenhouse 10x10 and I plan on using black barrels to retain heat from the sun during the day, using concrete blocks painted black on the floor of it and getting our garden going early every spring. I have even thought about putting a bathtub in there during the summer and filling it to warm all day and then letting it drain out into the pasture after I wash the dirt off myself in the evenings. Anything to save on my power bill!
We have looked at the panels at Harbor Freight but are undecided.

OMG!!!!! The eggs are growing and I hope that they make it.

We need to start trading eggs. Its kinda like school with baseball cards."Hey I'll trade you 10 rir for 5 bo and 5 ee" Yep that would be a easy way to get different breeds.

I just love those pint size boogers! They are so cute and especially with all that curl going on!
I suppose I need to put my Sarah Serama in with a Frizzle roo. They would make some funny babies. Not like those pretty babies Juliette has but still something cute. Sarah doesn't have the right Serama conformation. But I love the little tyke.
