FRIZZLE MILLE FLEUR COCHIN......(opps yelling) Please put me on the list for a purdy frizzle mille fleur cochin pullet! Oh please keep posting pics of these awesome chickens!!

I thought I would share a photo of my Frizzle Mille Fleur Cochin boy, Shazam.
He is going to grace my Frizzle pen this year and help produce more Mille Fleur bantam Cochins.
It has taken me a while to get a boy I could use by hatching a lot of my own eggs but he is shaping up very nicely.
I really enjoy breeding for my own projects but hatching out hundreds of eggs to get one that suits my needs can be a pain. Then again, I feel such satisfaction in creating something so pretty once it is done I am happy.
Forgive him being a bit dirty. He was outside playing when I brought him in the brooder room for his photo shoot. LOL

2 more dead hens...and one pip in the 'bator...Life is coming and going over here...One hen was the one that got pecked pretty badly but it had been 2 weeks and I thought she was going to make it. She really wasn't eating much but was eating some and drinking OK. Poor girl! The other was a new arrival..an Amer that was very sweet and just laying a pretty egg...ever since she got here her eyes and nose was watering some but it was clear...had been washing her face and also dusted her because I thought I saw mites but I am almost blind up close...hahaha...she didn't have any trouble breathing or making any breathing noise...I didn't think it was a bad enough problem...she was in the nest box in a sitting position dead this evening (I was gone this afternoon) so IDK...no egg stuck or anything. The PIP is an EE. Many more in there so hopefully the hatch will go good...take my mind off the recent losses. I have so few hens laying size I really hated losing them...Hope others out there are getting along better that this! Maybe things will turn around now...no more suspicious or injured ones left! Chick poor here but all these chicks seem to be thriving! I know I am (they are) going thru the feed!!! LOLOL

Went away for a few days and came home to big chicks..
Has to be a Brown Roo and this chick is so sweet and curious(Any takers)???? I'll post better pics later on!

look how much they have grown...

Susanne: so sorry to hear about your lamb that isn't doing well! I know that's so frustrating.

I have been SO busy this weekend! I worked and had a ton of schoolwork so that = no rest at all :( Luckily I only work 2 days this week since DH is off this week due to spring break. (he's a diesel mechanic and works on the school busses so the lucky dog gets spring break off) I decided I'd take a couple vacation days. I'm really hoping to get some things done around the house & most importantly some things done outside! The duck coop is #1 on my list! My little call duck hen has consistantly laid an egg every other day since she started! I'm super happy about it. Even though I lost the 3 eggs to those dang varmits, I've been able to collect 2 since then. I've been taking them from her and think I'm going to try popping them in the incubator. From what I've read calls are really hard to hatch so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I hope everyone's had an awesome weekend!

looks like he would be a good one...already looks like he is "front and foremost - ever watchful and protecting" LOL....they sure look happy and healthy! Great job!

hope it is not to late bring him around it is not to much trouble to tube feed.you i took a class on boar goats about13 yrs ago when we firstbrought them into s.c.. it takes less time to tube feed than you would think.you take the tube and place it into the left side of the mouth, and gently push it dow a bout 12 inches into the stomach and put your ear to the tube and liston for the gergling noise that way you can tell it is in the stomach place the big syringe with what you are feeding it and feed 3 times a day until it has the strenght to bottle feed oh before removing the feeding tube be sure to pinch the tube so what ever formala is left in he tube, that way when removing none will go into its lungs hope it is not to late

He's still alive although I haven't fed him anything in three days. He refuses to eat and Cole said trying to take on tube feeding with everything else going on (and, I hate to say it, for a ram we really don't need), is just too much. I'm so frustrated with him! He's getting skinnier and weaker every day. I keep trying to feed him, thinking he'll be hungry enough to eat but he won't. Even if I squirt formula in his mouth, he won't swallow. It just runs out. The other one is doing great though. Live and learn!

on the finding the guineas nest next time do not put your hands in the nest. use a long handle spoon to rmove the eggs and i think that will work fo you at least that has been told to me from old timers and mean old timers because i am close to 68 yrs old myself

I surely have been MIA! They started the foundation on the house last week and three pieces are here already. Our master bath comes today! They hope to put it all together next Tuesday. It's been a whirlwind of picking out lighting and other stuff that I hadn't done. Plus I'm launching a redo on my website today so I've been working on that. Plus the lambs, one of which won't eat and I'm not sure is going to make it. My little lamb is doing great though. Had my first guineas hatch yesterday! I was told they take 28 days so I went to take them out yesterday on day 25 and five were hatched in my Dickey. Three had fallen from the top rack all the way down to behind the hatcher which is a long way! They seem fine though. Next time I'll know it's not quite that long. Now if I could just find where they are laying. Every time I find a nest, they stop laying in it even if I leave a few eggs in there. That's on my list for today! I lost another hen yesterday. That makes 5 since last week. Not sure what's going on with them. And one of my lav ameraucana roos apparently has a broken leg or has a bad injury. He can't stand. I put him in with some chicks, hoping it will mend.

That's about it here! I'm going to go back on the thread and try to get caught up!
