South Carolina

If I know Nikki...its both! I would say welcome but it looks like you have been around for a while but HI!! We are on Lake Gwood but have family in your area!

For strength, I'd go with wooden posts.
For temporary, paddock or semi- permanent fencing, T-Posts work well.

What are you trying to fence? And do you want to keep something in - or something OUT?

He could live in that garage....tv, sc, heat, fans, fridge. When I'm mad at him. I refer to the garage as "Satans Quarters"!!

Now if he has something that nice for his "toys", I should b able to have something as nice for my silkies. Agree????

You would be very welcome here...without the feed!! We are up on Lake Greenwood though and not near Charleston...but you are still welcome to come!! And we ALWAYS have sweet tea availible!

Hope you find someone close for your "fix"!!

Awwww thanks Dixie! I guess I'll just ride the addiction out though, I'm getting incubation updates from home and watching vids on youtube. Cheers!!!

Oh, Nikki, I do believe you need a Silkie barn that has all the luxuries in it and a sign on the door that says "No boys!" LOL That could be your peace palace. You may never come out!
I am with Sam, I would love to see what beauty your DH has hidden in the garage! I bet some lovely car or motorcycle!

Make that plural...we saw the garage leaving...Nikki didn't tell us he had all that!! I am more a gear head than a chicken nut...AND I AM A HUGE CHICKEN NUT!!

The Anderson, SC Tractor Supply is having a chicken swap on April 28 if anyone is interested. If anyone knows of other swaps in the area in the next month or so, please share!

I am trying to get rid of a bantam araucana cockerel as I have two, both crowing and competing for one little lady. I'd like to trade him for a non-floofy, self-sufficient breed bantam hen but really I'd consider anything at this point. He can't stay and is pathetic for soup, though that may be his destiny. He could make a good bantam EE project roo.

April 28 is the Chickenstock in NC!

I am going up as I have had many preorders so I am delivering eggs and birds.
I am not in the market for much as I am tired of the table egg selling. By the time I wash, carton up, label and use all my fridge space for eggs I have very little profit to help use for the grain bill. I keep taking new customers but they have to wait on eggs if I run out before they can get them. I have given up most markets and restaurants because the pay back is ridiculous! Especially with gas prices now. I almost fell over when my Accountant showed me the break down from the past 2 years. So now it is pick up from the farm by appointment only. So far, so good!

I am still hatching out chicks and ducklings and most are spoken for so I get to keep very little as of yet. I am taking orders of those up to Chickenstock, too. Along with hatching Guinea eggs (those buggers lay like mad!), duck eggs and chicken eggs.

I hope you all can join us at the Chickenstock as we had such a blast last year! So many new friends and lots of chickens to look at and buy! The raffle was great and there were even a lot of chicken tractors for sale along with some cages and little hutches.

And though I say I'm not looking for anything else, I think I am head over heels for Porcelain Silkies. I adore my chicks from Bat Cave Silkies! They are so beautiful! I am sure I will be poking my head in to see if she brought more.
