South Carolina

The chicks are 11 days old now and growing fast. The three Orps will be two weeks old tomorrow, I can't believe I have posted so few pictures on here. lord knows 8 have taken plenty! Here are a few From the last few days.
They had their first experience with watermelon. It was funny to watch them eat the melon from Maranda's beak. It looked as if they were giving her kisses,

Amy captioned this one as, "But mom, I don't want to share!"

They seemed to take turns walking on it...

The next day, it was mealworms. Looks like instructions being given again.

Nothing but feathers and fuzzy butts

This little guy has earned the name Copper Top since he is the first to show the copper feathers. He is the smallest of the group and so cute.

If you look closely, five of the seven can be seen napping/resting here. It was hot on Saturday!

Let me know when everyone is getting together and I'll bring down a coffee cake - even if I don't need any birds, I'll sure enjoy the visit! (And looking at all your gorgeous birds might change my mind anyway. I'll bring a crate just in case. ;) )

YaaaaYY! Glad you found one. :) Now you've started down the road to addiction - just like the rest of us here. :)

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my first chicken today!!! Thank you SO much Rob! It was great to meet you. She is now named Livvy - and she is quickly becoming spoiled slam rotten. She took no time at all in snapping bugs out of the air and making herself at home. And she got some tomato as a treat! :) My hubby - who was not opposed to me getting chickens - it was just going to be MY project - hahaha - she's following him EVERYWHERE!! I love her to pieces. She makes the sweetest little cheeping noises. I held her all the way home and she even fell asleep in my arms. Awww..
Here she is!

Susan...ask Mom(patsy)...she is thinking of selling her 3 gals...laying since Nov so young layers...She is going the Blue/Splash route I think...She has limited space so she is making a few changes...
Oh that would be fantastic!! I'll send her a PM. That would sure be convenient, since I've got to get my little roo from her anyway.

Moonchild & Avonshire.. The hatch is going really well so far.. Out of 30 eggs we set we have 28 that are showing growth :) They are due to hatch on the 20th of June.. I'm so excited..I just pray I'm off that day or that they don't hatch while I'm at work that day LOL. It will be hard to go to work with little chicks pipping and hatching, but I know it must be done. I hope everyone is doing well.

Thanks, Jenn for your kind offer....I found them a home right here in North Carolina....Meredith (Wildriverswolf90) took all 4 of them last night and they are all doing great...she has provided updates in the North Carolina thread....thanks again everyone for your help.

Tom
