Aye.. I've been away due to my crazy work schedule and internet issues..so I had to scroll through all the new post here.. So much to catch up on when you're away for awhile. I loved seeing all the pictures in the post..super cute babies and chickens.. So where do I begin? Gosh... Welcome to all the newcomers... Patsy i'm so sorry to hear about your dog.. it is really heartbreaking to lose a four-legged family member.. Kris & Robert congrats on the new turkey poults (hope I spelled that correctly).. Avonshire that is a nice little set-up you have there. I too hope that the dog is just in protection mode.... ok so if I forgot anything I do apologize...

So now for my news.. Today was my first day off in six days (yay) I spent most of the day doing not much of anything LOL... However, tonight was lockdown time for the eggs in the bator so right before the kids bedtime we went in to candle them before locking them down and found a really awesome surprise.. It seems we have an early bird.. One of the BLRW eggs has pipped already and is chirping.. Yay! but they are 3 days early.. We also have a lot of activity too.. we have a bunch of rocking from a lot of the eggs in the bator.. Unfortunately I have to return to work tomorrow so it looks like I'll be missing this hatching (most likely), but on the bright side my DH will be off and can supervise for me :) I'll post pics as soon as they hatch.. I can't wait!!

Super Excited!!
AWESOME!!! about the pip!! I forget what are you hatching? So the bator must be doing better since the move?

I captured this shot over the weekend of our little Blue Orpington dozing after getting her fill of treats. Hopefully, this will be Anastasia. She definitely has more feathers than the other two Orps that are the same age. She is 3 weeks old today and has grown so much in the last 48 hrs.
I just love sleeping baby chicks!

Hi everyone. I am back from the beach and well rested (that should read well fed and lazy

).
I will be in Greenville tomorrow afternoon if anyone needs honey. I'm running low on creamed honey but have plenty of regular pints and may have a few jars with cut comb and a couple of boxes of comb honey.

The heavy equipment guys arrived yesterday to start clearing and leveling our land!! WooHooo!

Soon, I hope to be sitting on my back porch, sipping tea and enjoying the peace and quiet.

I have a mix in the bator.. I have some WA, BLRW, MF, Cochin, and EE. This morning I woke up to 7 more pips. They were not due to hatch until around the 21st. .. I'm super excited, but a little sad that I will have to miss it all. Oh well hopefully it all goes well and when I come home I can see the new babies.. Or maybe I'll get lucky and they will take their own sweet time LOL.. Anyways, the bator is doing much better since I moved it. I was able to hold a steady temp and humidity since moving it. I don't know if it was moving it that helped or the fact that I had to rid myself off the automatic turner (it started making an awful noise, and I had only used it once) Ugg.. Or that I did not open my bator and candle the eggs as much this time. I candled them at around 8 days and then went to go candle them last night and found the pip..So it's going to be quite interesting to see what hatches. I'll update more as I can..

Hi! I'm a visitor from NC poking my nose in for a minute. I'll be driving through on my way back from Georgia on the 26th. I-20 to I-95. If anyone anywhere close to that route has B/B/S English Orpington eggs, chicks or young birds available, please drop me a pm. Thanks much!

My chicks always hatch between 18 and 19 days, but I leave the eggs in there for 23 days. I had one hatch at 22 before. So CONGRATS on the hatching!!!!
