Wow Mary--do you get bears often? That is scary! Stay safe--how did you get the pictures? Maybe I can get Sam to share a spoonful of her creamed honey and see if I like it. Although maybe she doesn't like me THAT much! lol!!!

We have deer cams around our property. They work great for security cameras plus we get a lot of wildlife pics. We have a food plot road that we usually keep planted with clover or other wildlife feed. There is a old logging road that follows our back property line from one creek to another. The logging road intersects the food plot road so we get a lot of critters traveling thru. This has been a year that we have had 5-6 times that bear have been seen in our neighborhood. That does not count all of the times that they are here and not seen. Normal is 1 or less per year. These two were large bear so are scary to me. They probably would run if they saw us but they make me nervous. It has not been unusual for me to go up to the chicken coop after dark to check something half of the time with out a flashlight. I think I will be carrying a gun anytime I go out my door from now on. Between the 2 escaped inmates a week ago and now multiple bears, I do not feel as safe here.

Crazy! I am so glad those do not come through here! Or at least, I do not see them!

Was this a outside camera? Or did you personally stand there and take these? I just wondered because they were in color.

ETA:
Sorry, just read the other post!

Amy those are Bushnell Trophy Deer Cams from Cabela's. They are body heat or motion activated. Can't remember which. They take color pics in daylight hours and b/w at night. Some of the higher priced ones take color at night. In some of the pics, the bears had their nose right at the camera. Most of the pics were withing 25 foot of the camera.

One of Terry's relatives just shared a photo of their field cam the other day. It was over in Liberty and they keep an eye on the corn field with it. Imagine their surprise when they saw a deer right at the edge of the field with a mountain lion( yes, a puma!) stalking it! I did not know that those were down around Liberty. I kept looking at that photo trying to decide if maybe it was a bob cat but nope, it was much too big. The deer was looking at the cat, too and I am sure in the next instant, it ran for it's life!

The bear thing does not surprise me...they are rarely seen here but a few folks around us have game cam pics...but we are way less populated so run ins with them will be less common since they have more woodland to call home. We have even had DNR out this summer tracking a cougar because tracks are being found in too public of places. But it is way scary they were so close to the bee yard after seeing all the damage done a little while back =(

Hi South Carolina fellow chicken lovers ~ I need a your help. I've got 4 Beautiful Egg Laying Buff Orpingtons and I need to rehome them. They are laying gorgeous eggs that are Large and even X-Large~ They are beautiful healthy chickens but due to neighborhood convenents I need to rehome them to avoid any future problems. I live near Greenville, SC I was hoping to find somebody close by that would be willing to take them in. I am asking $10 each to avoid any people that are just looking for chickens to eat, as these girls have become a wonderful part of our family. I have feed, chicken scratch, and a Large Feeder which I will gladly give to the next owner. Please let me know if you are interested or know anyone who might be. - Thanks! Tiffany

Tiffany, I would be glad to give them a home here. I am just north of Greer, off of Hwy 14.
