Oh James...I only began with "my" chicken experience last year in July...just a free and free-roaming small group of game mix...now they still free-roam and I have 13 small coops of small groups outside...also a bantam sized crower (rooster) in a large bin inside my small house...along with 4 bins of chicks (no worries...each bin only has a few)...and a brooder on my front porch..oh...and then there are the incubators (yep, that is plural!!!).These guys/gals sure can take over a persons heart and soul fast!!!! But I would like to say this is a great site to find and explore...there are a lot of good people that will enable...I mean...encourage...

you and help in any way we can!

Hi James! You found the right place to talk chickens. I'm relatively new to chickens and BYC, but everyone has been super nice & helpful. Plus everyone in my day to day life just doesn't get my enthusiasm for my chickens.

How long have you had chickens and about where in our great state are you?

To Eggierowe. I'am north of you up in York, My email is [email protected]. I've been fooling with these about two years but a long time ago I had a bunch and sold fresh eggs. Me and my grandson got the ones we have now at Easter at tractor supply. Any way we got some of the ones theay had then I went ahead and bought 10 good ones at the feed store. Boy the ones we got at tractor supply were sorry chickens they all got so big it killed them, I bet one roaster we had would have went around 30 pounds. I've got Road Island Reds anyway I thank that is what they are. Looks like I'am going to be getting into them more I sure like fooling with them cant wait until mine hatch and see how good I did, its looking real good so far. Boy you sure sound like you are hooked on them. James

Hey Over Run. Have you got any going to hatch soon and if so how are you hatching them? James of York
hey James..not sure if you were talking to me? I am Patsy29332...my "status" is overrun with chickens. See under your name it says new egg? That is the status this site gives to you determined by your number of posts...kinda fun huh?! I think yours will change after the 25th post...just trying to help since you are new to here...I am still learning lots too!

Also you can pick on the "quote" button in the lower right corner of any conversation post by anyone and then another box comes up with their comment and you can type your comment in there with theirs...that kinda also helps keep comments and responses...questions and answers... together for easier reading...

I think it's neat you are back into chickens with your Grandson! Passing on valuable knowledge and also gives ya'll something to share and add great memories!!! Good to meet you on here and look forward to hearing more!

I just had 4 little bantam cochins hatch 3 days ago and have some set to hatch about the 20th or 21st. I was going to take some to chickenstock in Lincolnton, NC but these late hatchers will only be a day old so I am not sure if they will be going...
