hey James..not sure if you were talking to me? I am Patsy29332...my "status" is overrun with chickens. See under your name it says new egg? That is the status this site gives to you determined by your number of posts...kinda fun huh?! I think yours will change after the 25th post...just trying to help since you are new to here...I am still learning lots too!

Also you can pick on the "quote" button in the lower right corner of any conversation post by anyone and then another box comes up with their comment and you can type your comment in there with theirs...that kinda also helps keep comments and responses...questions and answers... together for easier reading...

I think it's neat you are back into chickens with your Grandson! Passing on valuable knowledge and also gives ya'll something to share and add great memories!!! Good to meet you on here and look forward to hearing more!

I just had 4 little bantam cochins hatch 3 days ago and have some set to hatch about the 20th or 21st. I was going to take some to chickenstock in Lincolnton, NC but these late hatchers will only be a day old so I am not sure if they will be going...

Yes I was talking to you, I saw where your name is and the way you was say over run. I'am useing that box and it does work better, thanks for all the help, I can use all I can get sure like this site and all the talk. What is that in Lincointon, a sale? This is just so cool it is just what I'am looking for. Yes I saw that new egg thing and got that. If I get this batch to hatch I'll try something better it sure is fun. James

There is what they call a Chickenstock in Lincolnton, NC on Sept. 22. It is a sale and swap and pretty big! Well worth the drive just to hang out and talk to lots of chicken folk and there will be so much for sale and swapping...anything from hatching eggs to chicks, chickens, guineas, peacocks, goats...you name it!!! I have only been once in the early spring but it was so fun! They have refreshment stand and they have raffles at the end. I think it is 9:00 to 12 or 1:00. It is a big field/showgrounds that people selling just park in and put their critters out...sorta like an outside jockey lot/trunk sale. If you go to the Forums page and look under chickenstocks/swaps you should find a page on it...check it out! People post on there things they are bringing or wanting and some pre-sales are going on there on that page. Hope to see you there with your Grandson!

Want Be able to make it, we are having a wedding on that day, Grand daughter is getting married. Don't seem like any thing works out like it should. timing is always off. But I would realy like to go, sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for telling me about it. James

Did I tell you all I got another Eggbert? That is the second one this year! All these years of hatching eggs and I have not ever had one, then had Sam Bam mention it and since then I have had 2! So funny!
This one didn't live though. It's little head was all twisted around and it never straightened out and died at 2 days old. I massaged it's tiny little neck and tried to get it straightened out but I think being born like this is pretty difficult. Though I did pop it right out of the shell after I quickly snapped these photos.
And yes, it was another bantam Cochin but since the vast majority of eggs I set are this breed then that was most likely to happen.

Welcome James!
Just saw you had joined us on here.
This is a very friendly site.
I used to get on and talk chicken a lot but now FB is where most of my friends have gone so I forget to check this thread. I probably will yak more here after Chickenstock as I am trolling that thread the most right now and answering the many PMs I get every day.

Glad to hear you are back into chickens with your grandson! Wish my daughter loved them as much.

Hi James,
I am on the other side of Spartanburg, outside of Inman, close to Greer. No man's land since I live almost on the Greenville county line.

If you want to see what all I do you can visit my website. It is not nearly complete with all my birds but gives a taste of some of them that I own.

www.westknollfarm.com

Get you a snack and pull up a chair. It is a fairly big site! And I really have so many more pages to add and more photos to put on the pages. So little time!
Now, gotta run out and collect eggs for a big order in the morning plus put boxes together for all the shipments that are going out on my usual crazy Monday morning of hatching eggs and meal worms.

Hey Guys/Gals...trying to NOT bore everyone...and I thank everyone for the input on my Sizzle that seems to be a Cockerel from the input...I appreciate everyones input offered! I will be keeping the sizzle either way but I must say I agree with the input...Cockerel! I have another I want/NEED input about...a new one here...The question is??? WHAT IS IT??? It is a Bantam for sure and crowing so a guy for sure...what is it? maybe a Serama or a BB RED...? (that will bring another question of what does BB Red mean?):
