South Carolina

Hey everyone. Long time not talking. Actually too long. I have just been so busy with everything I didn't have time. Well I'm back. Took a while to catch up on everything. So sad news. I lost all of my chickens to predators. Don't know what kind but it was not a pretty site. So I have fortified everything with extra heavy welded wire and stuff and about to start over. I wish it didn't take so long for them to grow. I miss my fresh eggs. It killed me to have to buy eggs. Also have to wait for the places to sell chicks. It is killing me. But I will live vicariously thru everyone here until I can get my flock up.

Glad to be back.
Sorry to hear that. I be hatching some in march.

I wish I had some. I broke out the incubator to clean it up.

Welcome new comers to the thread! And sorry Billyj about your birds, we have had a lot of trouble lately with coyotes, owls and now possibly a fox. What a pain! Hope you have better luck this season!

Question for the thread: Has anyone had luck with a "hound dog" living around their chicken? We had a little female Walker Hound come in last night. I had seen her several days this week out on the road and could tell she had been dumped but could not get close to her. Well she got in a coyote trap last night so I was able to get close to her this morning. She is a sweet heart but I have just not heard good things about hound around chickens, though our older male Walker cross is great with chicken, cats, etc, he has never been used for hunting.

Gonna add some more flare as time goes on...

Gotta fix the wobbling wire on the sides, but I'm so excited that they are happy!!!
