Nice pen!

I took 16 dozen eggs to the Food Pantry here in Greenwood today (thanks for the idea, Amy!) and they were very thankful. Then he said, "Do you need any bread? We have tons we can't use." I go back there and there's gobs and gobs of loaves, bagels, english muffins.... I loaded up! Snacks for all the animals! I'm not sure why they don't use them. They weren't moldy or anything. Must be some kind of use by date. I was happy to take them!

Amy, I agree with you about getting help. It's hard! I had a guy quit in the middle of the chicken run last year with no notice and I was paying him way more than minimum wage. He always asked for cash so he could buy food for his family and he couldn't wait until payday. Oh, well! I don't get it either!

Oh yeah, Suzanne, didn't I say I had tons of bread here from the food pantry?
Anyone that has been here recently has seen all the boxes laying around. They can only eat so much and I give the neighbors some of it for their chickens.
We actually eat a lot of it they give us. You are right, it isn't moldy but my church says they can only put it in the freezer one time so the next week what isn't used needs to go. Even during the holidays when I had no extra eggs to give them they would bring bread to me every Wed. afternoon. Really great treats for the chickens, dog, cats, wild birds, ducks......ya know.

Hey, great grow out pen, epitman2! I like the nifty box on the back with the lamp.

Glad you are enjoying the babies, Yancy! I have got to find a place to put these still here because their heads are touching teh wire across the top of the brooder! Big ol' babies!

Next week, Susanne, take lots of bread.
I probably did not mention it on here about the bread but when people see all the bread laying around the barnyard and in the boxes I explain about the food pantry and eggs and such. I enjoy watching the faces on the people as they pick up some eggs. Some are on such hard times. I also took some veggies from the garden last summer.
And they usually do a free meal for the poor the second Sat. of every month and can use eggs then, too. We sometimes stay and share a meal with the pastor and workers. They are such great folks.

Do you have another incubator to move them too? If not, can you use a heating pad to keep the temp warm enough in the incubator until tomorrow when you can get another adapter/incubator? I always keep some of the 72 hour hand warmers "just in case", even one or two of those might keep the temp warm enough for a day or so.

One of the best reasons to have a styrofoam incubator on hand also. Great idea, Joy, on handwarmers! I forgot to get any myself.......usually walmart puts them on sale in the hunting department.

then you could dig through toolbox, junk drawer etc and see if you have a leftover adapter cord that has the same specs.
(Of course with my luck I wouldn't be able to find my glasses and would just try any of them til one worked LOL )
