It is really neat to come through and read all the posts from our new members. I still remember getting into chickens and all the new wonders I came across. It is fun and I get some great chuckles out of reading your new adventures.

This is when it is exciting. Soon you may get like me and skip a day of even collecting eggs. Can you even imagine? I have more than 40 chicken and Guinea pens to collect from plus free ranging chickens and 9 duck pens. It gets old, especially when you try to remember to write on the eggs the pens you are selling eggs out of and ones that you better not mark or else you will have to find room in the incubator to set them. Ugh.....

I'm beginning to understand! We haven't left the house for more than one day since we got our chicks last summer. This weekend is actually their first birthday, but we were bad parents and went to the lake. We found someone to collect the eggs for us and watch their food and water - even though I set up enough food and water for a week for only a 3 day trip. And of course the eggs in the incubator that were due to hatch today started Wednesday morning! So they got to pip and zip in the truck. Calling them my road warrior chicks. Hoping to have them all rehomed before I get back to Greenville else I might try to keep some.

I wish I could take time off. I have more than 450 chicks growing up, brooders are full and grow up pens have been filling up much too quickly. I suppose I should sell some but think I will wait for Chickenstock. I still have 3 incubators overloaded with hatching eggs and hens sitting on a lot of peafowl eggs. I think I am long past that 700 chicken mark again.

Double wow! But I know how easy it is - you say you'll hatch and keep none or one or maybe just two. Then next thing you know you're keeping this one, that one, and of course those over there... I refuse to build more pens so I have to keep myself in check. I'm hoping I rehome all of this last hatch before I get back to Greenville!

Hi from Inman, though I am in Boiling Springs most every day.

My daughter works at the Walmart there. When are they ever going to finish messing up Hwy 9?

Hwy 9 is the worst, lol. Ive only been chicken raising since April's hatch, but its been enjoyable. I see all kinds of New chicks I want, how do you handle so many? I have 31at the moment, wasn't expected 31 to hatch out of 32 eggs, lol.
