South Carolina

Here in the upstate, Blue Ridge Feed and Seed will be getting their first chicks in the next week or so. They are hatchery chicks, but they are sexed, and they usually have a nice variety

Anyone know of any good hatcheries in the state? I'm looking to get about 6 pullets ASAP

If you're in Facebook, search South Carolina chicken and eggs trade..... Lots of breeders from all over the state, swaps, etc, you can post what your looking for and I'm sure you will find someone. I'm in York, but my flock has been battling upper respiratory on and off, so Out of good contious I will not be selling anything other than MAYBE eggs or if someone insists and they know upon full disclosure. Good luck.

Thank you very much, we are looking to get some within the next month or so, we want a mix of hens, I like RIR, Wyandottes, Wellsummers, orphingtons etc

Have you looked at the hatcheries? Back when I was getting hatchery birds, I had good luck with standard laying breeds from Cackle Hatchery. If you aren't concerned about showing, they sell reliable layers. I think there is a minimum order, though. Probably 25 birds this time of year, but you can buy them sexed

Yes, that's my only issue is most of the minimums are 15 or 25, and the ones that don't have high minimums won't get to me til about June or August
