South Carolina

we moved to Greenville from Denver co. in 1981. at that time it was listed as an up and coming city to live in.. it has kept to the expectation. and has grown by leaps and bounds. it is a very transient city. in other words your going to find it hard to find someone who was born in Greenville. most people move her from other places. our weather is great we have four seasons here, every few years we have snow. for a few days and everything shuts down, seams silly but we just dont have the road equipment that a state that gets lots of snow has . and of course 9 months after a snow storm there is always a baby boom hahah.. true....

I'm new into the chicken life ( and love it) so far everyone Ive met have been just wonderful and I cant wait till fair season to got o the chicken shows..

when looking for housing Simpsonville is up and coming and a nice town as is Greer. they are kind of all attached to each other, connected by one or two hwys. were very easy to get around.

so a pre- welcome to the upstate...

Wow - that was hard. Seems very complicated to add a picture on these messages.

Wow, shoe boxes? There is no way my meal worm farm is going to fit in shoe boxes unless my feet grow a good bit.

I bought 2 big plastic tubs yesterday, with lids. They are about 1 1/2 ft wide and 2 1/2 ft long. That might do it. I need to get a third one. I would have liked the drawer method but I could not find any large enough. There are some great ideas on the thread.

Interesting to find out that the mice eat them, too. Luann gets on here sometimes. She used to raise fancy mice and still have plenty at her place. The ones that get out usually just live right in her brooder room and lay on the cages, mingle with the chickens. It is awesome. They would let me pet them and helped clean up extra grains.

Ah ha! See I knew it had to be another real breed! I have no idea about La Fleche. They lay white eggs, I would think and I just do not keep up with white egg breeds.

And now you start with another breed.........

JOY- how many breeds does this make?

AMY- Nicole was so glad to be back up there yesterday. She is feeling like crap today still. One of us will be getting some of those allergy tabs, they seemed to help a good bit. Her nose still sounds horribly stuffy this AM, though.

And, yes in SC we are just a short trip from the beach......but also a very short trip into the beautiful NC Mountains

I, too, hate the humidity here. Makes my joints swell as bad as when we have cold weather.

It's a Speckled Sussex. I resized it from the original post like someone on here suggested, don't remember who, but i guess it still wouldn't show up bigger like I thought. They are all approx 4 weeks old. I will try to play with the pic and see if i can't get it to enlarge and repost it.
