TOO CUTE!!! Is this the duck that was sitting when i came over last time!!!

All my babies are doing good!!! But the Babies are HOT..... Oh it's so hot!!!

Yes, Yancy, that is the one that was sitting when you were here. She hatched out 2 but when we had the torrential down pours one died. Naturally she is a great mama duck and I hate that she lost the one. Her sister is sitting now and due to hatch in 2 weeks and I get the parents of them today! Yippee!

Hot?? OMG, it is way too hot! I had to look around and make sure I was still on earth and not at home with the devil, it was soooooo hot!

DH bought a fan yesterday for the brooder room since we ran the one last year so much it burned up by the end of the season. We still need to pick one up for the Silkie/Cochin shed. That one died last year, too.

It depends on what you would like to do with it. If you want to leave them outside in it I would go with hardware cloth and to make it easy to work in make it 6' tall. If you close them up at night then you can use what we put on the M*A*S*H units. I have some very secure fences and some really dumpy fences.

You are so lucky to have your dogs do well with your birds. They are all one big happy group. What a great family photo that is!

And yes, your blue roo is very handsome! I have 2 blacks and a blue roo. I kept saying they had to be girls but no amount of coaxing changed the fact that they are boys. Such is my luck. However, the blue boy here is PURDY, too! They haven't figured out girls quite yet nor crowed that I know of but being in a large group may keep them kids a bit longer. Only my Cochins think they are big boys.
How I wish you could have had 3 girls!
If your dad still wants a big girl from my LF Cochin, Bo, I have a few growing up. Lots of boys, of course! But I looked at them closer yesterday and see 2 girls. Nellabean caught up one girl on Sat. I often do not look closely until they mature enough to get into trouble or someone wants to buy them.

Yes...you BOTH are so lucky to have dogs that don't enjoy the taste of chicken. Amy girl my birds are just gorgeous!! I think I need a friend for the little SLW. The roo, which I have names Jaques, thinks she is ready for his lovin' so I've had to put her in her own pen. Poor baby! Dang it Amy! You did have 2 LF cochin girls? Gah.

Yes, Miss Jackie, I do believe I have 2 young LF Cochin girls. Everyone admires Bo so much when they see him and now his kids are growing up and looking a lot like him. I think their barring will be a bit different but you never know until they are full grown.

I hope Midas grows out of all that nonsense!
Although I may go through the same problem when I raise one. I only hope Jolie will teach the next one. I plan on a short haired LGD this next time. I am tired, and so is Jolie, of all that hair! Brushing and cutting, brushing and cutting and still the end is not in sight. Karen may have to bring her big clippers to finally get the job done. She sees all that I have done with scissors and knows it is a rough job. If she can clip down her thick minis then she can do Jolie, and has when she was her dog. Karen knows the trials of these big brutes.

Next time I am looking for an Anatolian. My friend in AZ does not have AC and hers does just fine in and out of the house.

i got me a german sheppard puppy 4 weeks ago she is 10 weeks old and she has stole my heart. over the week end i took my pheasants out of the fly pen. and put 2 hens with 15 chicks in the fly pen. also put about 40 chicks in with them. now they have all the room they want. the pen is 25 ft. by 50ft. and 10 ft.high. about 2 more weeks i will put another 50 in with them

It's 8:30 pm, I'm sitting outside watching my silkies and a da.... Hawk/bird just took off with a chick and me right there. WHAT the .....? I'm so angry! I took off running after it but I'm no match for a bird in the air. Poor Silkie;( All I can hope is maybe the bird dropped it. This is my first casualty of this kind. Everybody else ran too the coop, huddled in a corner, and very quiet.

Oh I'm so sorry..this is my biggest fear for my girls! Although the huge black snake in the coop has triggered a all new fear!. I do wish I had a trick to keep the bad away from our awesome chickens!

That is how I wound up with Jolie!
DH and I were standing on the deck watching the ducks and chickens roam the backyard when a hawk flew down and tried to get one of my ducks. DH and I shouted and clapped our hands but the hawk was intent on getting the duck.
BTW, they don't call them ducks for nothing! That girl was duckin' this way and duckin' that way and the hawk finally gave up and flew off.

Jolie came to our house the next week! We still get fly overs but if Jolie is around they certainly don't get the chance to snatch anything.
