South Carolina

Well I got my electric bill in
barnie.gif
and after I got over the shock~ (which I was sort of anticipating given this extreme heat we are having) I just wanted to cry... $234!! That just hurts it jumped up over a $100 more than last month!!!! The next thing I fear will be the water bill

Another "HOT" one today though~ there is nothing I can do but run that a/c, I don't do well in extreme heat that's why I moved to South Carolina...

Ummmm guess the jokes on me~ It's hotter here than Florida

Nadine~ SO glad you got your a/c fixed, sorry it's costing so much! Those mini vacations never seem to make it for me either~ always something that comes up.

I think jail or the loony bin are my only hopes of a vacation.....

Amy - OMG Feed up again?

I just told Todd the other day we were gonna downsize my chickens... Time to kick some EE boys out to stay roaming. Nothing I would mind losing. I let the chickens out most days, and half the ducks too. But in the evenings they think they are starving, even with packed full crops!

The yellow dog, got shot at yesterday morning. I saw him oming down the road when I went to the mailbox. By the time I got to the house, I heard crazy neighbor shooting. Not sure if he got the dog or not. I hope so.

We had our AC replaced 4 years ago. I won't tell how much we spent, we got one that uses that new freon stuff or something, but only had one problem since then when something or other went out but it was covered by warranty. If the trees were still across the road, our power bill would be so much lower! Afternoon sun hits front of house now though, so AC runs continuously. And we have some little fans going too.....Hate my ceiling fans - I think they are gonna fall on my head

and one does not work...

My lowest power bill ever was 2 summers ago. Our dryer was out. I did not want to replace it with $60-$80 power bills each month!
DH & DD made me once the washer went too.

I think some of my migraines are triggered by the weather. Every time a severe storm rolls around, I get one. IDK if it is the electricity in the air or what
hu.gif

Don't have a clue as to the other triggers. I have a doc appt July 6 to get my refills on my migraine pills & I will be a happy camper

I tell ya, hot flashes combined with the heat makes for one grouchy Kimberly!

Gotta get pop to dr, feed the goats & horses......... Stay cool(er) everyone!

So one of my black Jersey Giants, Loretta, went missing in the middle of the day last Wednesday and wow, definitely found her this morning. YUCK. Looks like she was laying internally? PEEYUUU!!!! 5 days of heat and rain, gag me with a spoon. Glad the trash man hadn't come yet so she could be disposed of. I hate putting bodies in the freezer!

Oh, Jackie! I am so sorry you found her this way. So sad for you.

It is one thing for them to go missing but another to actually find them all grossed out like that.
I had a hen die from the heat the other week and though I had her in a shallow grave the cats or dog got her and I found the remains with a pretty blue egg in the mess. Looks like it was licked clean.

Did Bonita go back on the nest?

Yes she did! She was in the cat carrier on the floor of the coop and that was just not up to her standard. So she is now in the (favorite) nest box happily sitting on 6 sizzle eggs and the 3 BLRW eggs. I'll move her a few days before hatch date and she will just have to deal with it. Lord she is obnoxious though- I come within 2 feet of the coop and she has a come apart!

Sorry, Jackie! Remember my hen that we thought was an internal layer? She continued on like a trooper until the hawk got her last week. Walked like a penguin the whole time but seemed fine otherwise. I'm sorry about your girl and how you found her. The heat is not helpful in those situations!

Kimberly, I suffered from migraines for years. I would just be going along and suddenly couldn't see. Those visual auras would precede a horrible migraine. I was driving in rush hour traffic in Atlanta the first time in happened. Never could figure out the triggers. They run in my family though. After I had my son, they went away! I was so glad. I know how miserable they are. Sorry you're going through that!

If you are a praying person, please keep my mother-in-law in your prayers. She's been in the hospital since Sunday and they are trying to figure out why she's not well. She's 79 and my children's only living grandparent. At 6 and 10, that stinks. I hate they haven't had the full benefit of loving grandparents in their lives. My husband has been there pretty much the whole time. We hope to know more today.

I had to let my two guineas out of the b/b/s silkie coop where they have been raised. They were pecking the 6 new little silkie babies. Our 14-yr old lab had to be put down on Friday.

So he's not using his dog house. Put out food and water for them. A few minutes later, they were on top of the roof of the house! We were cracking up. Yesterday, they somehow had made it into the run with the buff silkies. Today they are in with my paint silkies. I'm not sure how they're getting in there but they seem very happy and those silly silkies don't even seem to notice that there's some strange birds in there with them! I just ordered 30 keets which will be here in a few weeks. Can't wait!

Yes, I changed my name to protect the innocence of others! Baaahhhahhaa! Kidding!

It seemed to confuse some that emailed me off this forum so I hope this will make it easier to identify me.
You can still cause me Nadine, my mom always called me Amy Nadine, especially if I was in trouble, which seemed to be my entire adolescence years.

Aw poor bunny!!!! Yeah heat is oppressive today. My poor broody Bonita has got to be so hot. Why would you want to be broody when it's this bad out is beyond my comprehension. Silly chicken.
