South Carolina

Never knew about the SC thread. How many members from SC on BYC? We could be the largest state represented on these pages...NAHHHH!! Would be nice though:cool:

Catdaddy, I grew up mostly in Camden. Went to DuPont twice a day, to pickup/dropoff dad. Sailed up at Lake Wateree most every nice weekend!

ETA, that was pre-WalMart by many years!

Anybody else here in upstate SC snowed in?
We got about 6" snow with ice over that. The chickens are just now starting to venture out onto it. They would not even go to the pool yesterday to drink water and I had to put water containers outside the coop door before they went to bed so they could finally get a drink. Geez! What chickens! LOL
Hopefully it will melt off a good bit today so I can move tractors. There is always plenty of work to do every single day when you have over 300 chickens to care for and numerous pens to deal with.
Hope everyone is staying warm!

We haven't had a flake of snow here, once again too coastal. I am using my truck as a cooler though!

scgamecock, sorry to hear of the dog problems. We have quite a few here that run loose and it's constant challenge. I'd hate to shoot a dog, but I do keep a pistol and shotgun handy. Some of the dogs are really big and have threatened ME for walking out the door. That won't happen again.

We have had some 20F weather this weekend, and I am not loving it. Everything frozen!

chasamp, you'll need to talk to some other upstate folks, they might have started pullets for sale. I keep every pullet I can. If you get pullet chicks just before Easter from Cordray's I can help you through the raising part!

sugarhillfarm, I am sorry for the loss. It happens, but it never gets any easier. Any idea why?

Nadine, I have a sled for adults- I somehow don't think I'll ever get to use it here! Stay warm!

Ranchand. Thanks for the offer of help. I have raised them from one day old before. Pretty good for a city girl gone country. Last year they stopped laying and we had to say bye bye (SAD). That was hard. But part of the farm world, I've been told. Would like to find some that are about ready to start laying now as I really miss those FRESH eggs. Thanks again.

Thanks ranchhand. They are still coming back so I hope I've secured the doors as well as I can.Where are you located btw and do you know of any auctions close to me?
