Cowboy babies!

Amy, here is the new mottled cockerel I got from you last time I was up there. Sitting all proud and happy up on the roost tonight.

The hen I got from you went to her first show yesterday. It was just a fair show....and the judge was retarded. He judged based on mottling and not type. I brought 5 hens and 1 rooster...I figured Best of Variety would be between my rooster and that hen, but neither are very mottled.....especially the girl since she is young. He gave Best of Variety to my WORST hen. A girl with poor type and who was missing feathers on her neck (molting) but has even mottling. Actually its the girl panting on the far left of the boy up there. The blue girl on his right stayed home (sour crop issue) but he LOVES HER. They are best friends.

So weird! LOL

So, I brought one of my favorite chickens inside today because she was acting very puny ( she actually let me pick her up without any fight...) So I set her up in the "chicken hospital" aka dog cage. She's been eating and I gave her some water mixed with vitamins and electrolytes via syringe. Anyhoo...when I came home tonight she had decided to roost on top of one of the waterers (which I thought was really cute/funny) So here's a crappy cell phone pic of her. I'm hoping she was just weak due to heat and the fact that she's the lowest on the totem pole and the other chickens were bullying her away from the food. She's the first chicken I hatched and I love her..so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she does okay.

Say a little prayer for "Chicken Little" (I know...very original name..lol)

EEs and Ameraucanas are different breeds

Some varieties of Ameraucanas are in the SOP.......EEs are considered a "mutt" or mixed breed and are not in the SOP
