Just a little side note about donkeys..from what I've been told by the breeder I got mine from. Donkeys play reallllly rough. They bite at each others necks and jump on each other. Even if they aren't being aggressive they can kill a smaller animal. I've heard stories from people who put a donkey with their goat herds where the donkeys killed them all. I know mine hate my cat and will go after her in an instant, but to someone who didn't know them, they'd probably think my 2 donks try to kill each other all the time lol. I call it donkey wrestling. They are sooo rough! What happened with Susanne's definately sounds like a deliberate attack though.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting on my hens to start laying.. Well today, 2 of them decided to leave us presents!!!

Well it is confirmed now. I have 6 silkies and the last one started to crow yesterday.

I hatched 3 partridge and now all are crowing. The other 3 I bought as chicks and they have been crowing for a while.

I am going to find homes for all but one partridge

and get a bunch of eggs from someone. Maybe if I hatch a bunch, I will get a few pullets.

I just have not been able to find any pullets/hens for sale. I will keep looking. I hope to go to Chickenstock in a couple of weeks and there is the show at Clemson in Nov.

I know someone has to be able to hatch silkie pullets or we would not have silkies

On another note, I know nothing about donkeys but would they go after a child or an adult? I know any animal can be dangerous under the right circumstances.

Enjoy this nice day.

HEY YALL! I NEED to replace 2 BLRW pullets I lost to a dog attack over the weekend. Let me know how much and I'll gladly take em. Prefer younger than 6 months to go with the young roos I have, but open to any age.

Thanks....

John

WELL, WELL, WELL!!! Talk about long time, no see or talk!! Eric, how's it been going, man?? Last time I saw you was up at Country Boy Feed & Seed. I've gained some new breeds and sold some birds but I think my count is somewhere in the 30-40 range. Do you still have any girls from that first set of eggs you hatched from me and Beth (hardluckhill, who no longer gets on here)?? Dude, I went from 12-15 eggs/day down to 3-5 eggs/day. We have a CSRA thread up and running now: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=551564&p=1
I'm guessing you could try some BOSS, protein is always good when they're molting or you just wanna push out a good bit of eggs somewhat quickly. Don't stay gone so long next time!!

hello john well i have been camping fishing and gardining all summer long. ha ha ha yes i have all the chickens from you and beth. i think that there was 7 and out of them i got 3 roos and 4 hens and one of them gives me a blue egg (well until they stopped) and then i hatched out 13 more from my own flock and gave 2 away so that left me with 11 then we went to country boys and got 2 silkie chicks to break up a broody hen then i hatched out 1 out of 5 eggs. the 1 was hatched out naturally and then 1 slw was give to me and that added to the 6 original hens that i had gives me 29 chickens. cool on our own thread
