South Carolina

Yeah, mine are 6 across and double layered so I have 12 nest boxes. I paid $45 and that was more than 2 years ago. I think they are well worth it and more.

I need to post pictures of the results of our travels today! We got a trio of BBReds OEGB's!!! I have wanted to get this color of OEGB's all summer and finally we got some! I love these traditional colored little birds--I keep saying I am getting them for my daughter but I really love them too. They are last years birds so we should be getting some eggs as soon as they settle in to their new home. The little roo is dubbed and looks so proud. I will try to get picture tomorrow~

I'll send an email with his cell phone and email. He has a listing on Craigslist but that was a week ago so it maybe hard to find now. There's a person today on craigslist with 10 chickens for 30 dollars. 8 hens, 2 roos. Mixed breeds. I don't have foom or I would take them. Look under farm and garden. They are in Starr, very close. Susanne email sent. I've already shared this info with a few others so you may want to contact the guy with the boxes quickly.

On another note I was reading some Aesop and did not know he was the author of:

It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds.
Aesop

Do not count your chickens before they are hatched.

they are on the small side.. the nanny's smell better.. they wouldn't take much of a paddock/fenced in area.. some people put them out on dog chains in briars and stuff. but I would recommend a small paddock/fenced lot for them you have to keep them safe from predators.. Coyotes love them.. yummmmy treats..

you could contact your local high school rodeo person and they would be able to point you int he right direection and give you more info.. they are used a lot in girls goat tying..
good luck and have fun

Good Morning South Carolina!!! It is still a little dark here but I went out to check on our new BBReds and low and behold~there was an egg in the pen!! I do not know if these hens have been with this little rooster for any time or not but I bet not. He was probably from a grow-out pen and they were probably with an older roo. I might be able to hatch some line birds not directly related to our new rooster! I am very excited!!
