For some reason my post didn't show.....weird. I'll try again. I said you should worm them. If they have worms they won't lay. That's a good place to start.

I wormed them tonight with panacure.. should I worm them again in 2 weeks or just fecal test in a couple of days? the ones i saw in the water wer're the white spaghetti looking ones like puppies get.. I expect to see them expelled. then Im going to strip the coop and re- do the pine shavings everywhere for them. i had the wazine, but I found it after, I decided on the panacure. for horses but it said didnt have to worry about milk production and use so I thought it should be safe.. well see..

glad to know that about it being a reason for not laying..
thanks

Yep, you should start getting eggs again in a few weeks (unless there is something else going on). Not sure about the follow up wormer as I've never used Panacure before. With the Wazine I think you do have to followup with a second treatment. So is Panacure for chickens too? And you don't have to withhold eggs?

I kept the two smallest and I have yet to see an egg and the lady from clemson said the wheatons are Americanas!!....We met the breeder also and my mom bought a roo...I can find nothing about them to say they are not Americana but I am waiting on eggs...my dark gal on the otherhand I know is an EE...still hoping for a blue egg!! I hope worming helps you,you should be covered in eggs with your group!! Green peas have had no ill effects on my ladies but now you have me ready to research ASAP!! I have my fingers crossed for you and sending prayers your way!!

Americauna and Ameraucua's are different the spelling witht i .. is how the hatcheries get away with selling them under that name.. best way to tell is have your mom stop by Susanne's one day with one and let her look it over.. and then you know which spelling to use. it is quite possible that they are true Ameraucauna's they do come in their color.. doseent your mom live close to Susanne? thought so... if they are true Ameraucauna's when she starts breeding them I would like a wheaton.. is she keeping them isolated so that they only have themselves to breed with..? it would be fun we can swap back and forth since were all so close to each other and have many of the same breeds. cant wait for the Polish to start up.

I am the one spelling it wrong!! We are doing America in ss with our kids and we took our special needs class fishing and I was a zombie last night...We can def trade chicks in the spring as she does keep them isolated and I have a breeding pen and I will be having visits from her roo also!!

There are Ameraucana's and then there are Araucana's. Ameraucana's have a medium length tail, muffs and a small pea comb. The Araucana's are rumpless and have bigger ear tufts. When Araucana's are crossed with any other breed, they can produce blue, green, pink or yellow eggs and this is where the Easter Eggers come in. At least, this is my understanding. I often refer to my favorite book. If ya'll don't have it, you should check it out. It's "Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds" and they have lots of color pictures that I love to look at. My book is falling apart, I have looked it to death.

I do not have rumpless!! I was just tired and doing major misspelling!!LOL we are studing America with our special needs class( I teach/assist) So I am writing/typing it non stop at school!!

A lot of yours are just not old enough to lay yet. With the breeds you have they may be 8 months old before you see an egg from them. They will start giving you eggs for Thanksgiving cooking though so don't despair.

I am excited about Saturday! But sorry I am losing my Cowboy. He is so handsome even though he is molting right now. Wait until you see his chicks! I need to snap some photos. They are such a beautiful blue color.

That's so funny! That was the first book we bought and my children saw the white silkie in it which is why we ended up with silkies first. I love that book. It's a great reference.

From what I understand, Easter Eggers are a mix of any colored egg layer with another breed (Ameraucanas, Araucana, Marans). Usually it's an Ameraucana or an Araucana though which is why the eggs are green or blueish. Mix a Marans and an Ameraucana and you get an Olive Egger. They lay such pretty eggs!

My Wheaten Ameraucanas should start laying any day. I think those are THE prettiest hens in the world. So creamy and those white muffs.... I just want to eat them up! Not literally of course!
