It was a windy day but we made it through! I am glad the kids liked my old horse. He is a sweet old fella. The chickens were not thrilled with the wind and did not show themselves off as much. I have a lot more that free range but they would not come out of the wind blocks.
It was very nice to meet you, your mom and kids. Did you all go back to the mall after leaving here? What a long day!

I have your name written down for what....about 10 different breeds?

Kidding! I know you liked the BLRW and the Ameraucanas. My problem is I sell too much and never keep enough for myself so now I just can't sell anything. I will start hatching again in February and get more on the ground to sell when April rolls around. I have cut back to the point that I have a few empty pens now and will have room to grow next spring.

I am super pleased with the white d'Uccle girl NellaBean brought me and the blue Mottled Cochin (Cowgirl) is a beautiful young lady! Can't wait to see what all I will get with her to my Dan! (Remind me...I am not hatching any more this year!!!)

Did anyone end up going to the Tractor Supply swap in Anderson? My friend and I went but only one person came with roos to sell while I was there (I was actually hoping for someone to show up with goats). I left around 10 so I guess there was plenty of time left and it was starting to get busier, but I had other things to do. Bummer.

Hopefully there will be more interesting stuff going on in the spring. The Tractor Supply lady said their license for the swap just ended up getting there really late in the season.

Yes we stopped back by for her HAT!! We just let Dixie run in though...by time we got back to moms and got her newbies all settled I was 9 getting home...by time mine were all settled in and fed the whites just slept in the crate( I put it in run and left door open but they were not waking up) and the Millies were starving...chicks

...lol. They are sleepy babies today though!! We had a blast(as I pm'ed) but I know we had everyone else sooooo curios!! LOL

Oh yeah, the blue Mottled and white girl I named "Bride" were very hungry but they are doing great this morning.

And what a cold morning! I actually wore a jacket when doing chores and most of the birds were reluctant to get moving at 7 am. I have a 100 wt heat lamp in the brooders but lost a little Silkie. It looked pretty flat so I think they were still all huddled up and must have smushed it.

Don't worry Joy, I saw it was supposed to be back in the 70's this next week. Thank goodness. It is time for me to put the canvas and tarps on the tractors for the winter.
I finally finished my last duck coop!

I will add shavings and catch up those critters tonight. My blue Runner left her nest last week and the poor ducklings died in the shells. However, my fawn/wht Runner is still on her nest. And I think I have one or two others with nests but can't find them.

This cold spell has certainly messed up my head. That wind gives me a vicious headache.

Everyone being hungry was my fault

I didn't even think of bringing food when I boxed them up, and neither did Lori. So they hadn't eaten ALL DAY, poor things.

Okay, IGNORE THE POOPY WALLS, this is my quarantine brooder in the garage...its needs a good wall scrub but I just never get to it. I need to move the dang roost farther from the wall.

I stuck Mr Cowboy and the new girl in here, along with 2 of my girls who will QT with them (and also be retested in November).

Amy, check out how awesome the girl next to Cowboy is! That is the girl that you originally traded me FOR him back in May.

and the girl next to Cowboy in the front right here, going through a molt hence her raggedy condition, is just as beautiful....I got her from you (Amy) last year sometime. Great type on her, she got Reserve of Variety at a show this summer and I bet she'll be a stunner next year after her molt.

I lost one of my mottled cockerels in the coop....I think it got piled on in the colder weather......but some of the other younguns are looking AWESOME. I am super excited about growing them up! They are also getting nicer! Less like little piranhas.....

Aw, that's a cute picture! Glad they ended up with you instead of that other scammer that was going to get them originally. I bet your kids are loving them! And if they decide they want to try showing, they have really nice birds to start with

Allright, it's 5 weeks till the GeorgiaLina Chickenstock. It's Saturday, November 5th. Let me know what you plan on bringing. This is our first one, so let us know what you expect. It can be a simple swap or a festival. The goal is to promote homesteading and hobby farming. This includes all small animals, crafts and homesteading materials. If you have a specific want let us know. FarmerJohn has agreed to assist in the endeavor.
I can't wait to see you there.

Janelle, don't worry about them being hungry or thirsty. It helps them appreciate their new home more!

There are some days that I feed and water mine and they act the same way. Like I never do anything for them. Geez!

OMG! How is it you wind up with such gorgeous girls from me????? I don't feel bad about that boy not clicking with you now. Humph! You got some great ladies there and they are worth 10's of thousands of dollars!

I am happy knowing you will be working on improving the Mottleds and I will be begging for eggs or chicks before too long. You see I need to improve my breeding pen......because someone keeps taking my most gorgeous girls!

I hope the little fella you lost wasn't the best one. And I so hope you have an extra boy for me later.
I feel I got a good deal though as my lovely new white d'Uccle is simply gorgeous and I love Cowgirl already. I never thought I wanted blue Mottleds but I know with Cowgirl and the other little blue Mottled girl growing up I may be able to work them into many of my breeding programs.

Glad to hear you are awake already! Have your dad take you out for a really nice meal today. You are probably exhausted after yesterday.
Oh yeah, how many new bunnies did you bring home???? 'Fess up, lady!
