I am so glad I live on Edisto Island where they don't really care how many you keep

Melissa-

I live on Wadmalaw Island, and breed Seramas, concentrating on Frizzleds and Silkied Seramas, and am also working on Frizzled Silkied Seramas...What are you "into", chicken-wise?

Juliette

I'm so jealous of everyone who can have as many chickens as they want. I thought I would be fine with four, but now that I've gotten started I want more!

Juliette,
I started out with some mystery chicks this Spring from tractor supply. I ended up with 6 roos! I am still trying to rehome them. I also got 2 buff orpington pullets from there also. I ordered some more buff eggs off ebay and hatched 4 more babies. I have an incubator full of splash orpingtons right now. I also have 7 french guineas. None of my pullets or guineas are laying. They do free range all day so I might find a mystery clutch someday

I never realized how addicting incubating eggs was. Way too much fun!

Melissa, I was just going to ask you if you had any luck, it sounds like it's going great!

Juliette, how are you doing way over yonder?

I am currently roosterless and loving it! Rehomed them all via Craig's List. It took a while, but apparently July was my lucky month.

My husband is ready to eat them. They are mean! I ended up with 3 delewares, 2 leghorn, and one white brown roo we can't figure out what the heck he is. They try and attack me when I go out to feed them. Thank God for the guineas. They come to my aid when the roos attack. Guineas females can even kick a roos rear. Funny to watch!

Ranchhand-

Good for you! I'm getting ready to list on CL as well, as soon as some sunshine appears so some decent pictures can be taken! I have plenty of smooths to put up for adoption, since I have no use for them in my breeding program. It's too hot right now to ship birds, so I can't do that till Labor Day...I keep expanding my color projects, my biggest problem is one of FOCUS...and LIMITING myself! I am totally addicted!!! Since seramas don't breed true, I keep saying, "Ooooh, I want that one, and that one, and....." You get the picture...

Melissa-

I agree totally with your addiction to hatching! I would go non-stop if I could figure out some way to hatch females only!

I pray nightly to the fertility gods, but they are totally ignoring me...Even though I LOVE my roos, they are all sweet with friendly temperaments, there are just so many I need, or have the space for, so I. Keep. Praying!
