I have them fighting over eggs at 2 bucks and a carton at school! I sold 4 doz yesterday and 4 last week and I had an extra doz I could have sold today!! Thats 16 bucks in 2 weeks...I spent 14 on a 50lb bag of feed and that does me a lil over 2 weeks! YAY!!

I dont count the pokie eggs as we are eating those and a few browns on weekends...no time to cook eggs duiring week morns!! And I dont count chick starter either...just layer I buy for 16 birds!!But I still feel my layers are feeding themselves!!

Wish my feed bill was that low....

Me, too! I feed about 100# of grain a day. I am finding I can skip a day here or there when they haven't cleaned it all up. But then they expect treats. Geez! Spoiled bunch of heathens!

I've got Fox 21 running right now but may try to stay awake for that info. Or I could catch it on their website tomorrow.

You might have given him the idea, you never know!

Sure is a coincidence.

I am even thinking the website tomorrow sounds like a good idea since I am sure it will be one of the last stories they will do. It will probably be on the news in the morning, too. It is probably being done because the Spartanburg ordinance brought it to their attention. Of course, my husband was just shaking his head and saying,"They are just chickens!". I still have a lot of educating to do!!!! He has only seen mine in pictures, but it is time for me to drag him to Lou Ann's and show him these aren't your run of the mill chickens (and pray they turn on the charm on that particular day).

Correction-it is channel 7, not channel 4. He was watching Blue Bloods which is on 7, so I am guessing that is where the story will be. If I see it online tomorrow, I will put a link on here.

I just have to say for the record that this is the busiest forum of any kind that I've ever been on. I'm just sitting here trying to read all the new posts and every time I go back to the Recent Posts there are a dozen more new ones! Wow!

Well - I baby my babies more than most. The ones hatched in winter stay in some kind of shelter until spring is here. I usually move them from a greenhouse brooder into a double brooder box where they have access to heat in the nest box side and a screened porch area with outside temps. This helps acclimate them before moving them away from heat altogether. But my birds are half grown or more before I turn them loose with the big birds. As for the nickel I owe you - you should know that I pay in ROOSTERS!!
