South Carolina

one of my almost 2 month old silkie chicks, enjoying the spring weather among some newly planted flowers!

We planted an absolutely HUGE row of Mammoth and other assorted giant sunflowers today. Looking forward to seeing their huge heads grace our yard again this summer!

Does anyone know of any place in upstate S.C. who sells chicken food that is organic, or at least non GMO?
This question is perfect for Amy. If nobody answers you PM WestKnollAmy
She's a post back. She's super busy and sometimes can't get on here often but if you PM her she'll answer!!!
Hope this Helps!

I know this might sound crazy, but what does PM stand for? Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you, Yancy. I do try to read and get on here as often as possible but the farm does keep me quite entertained.

You can find Organic chicken food without GMO's at a few places in Greenville but it is about $40-50 a bag. You would have to call around to see who is still carrying it. Because of the price they sell very little of it and because it moves so slowly it is not very fresh. You can order it in from Countryside but then it runs about $80 a bag because of weight and freight costs.

Thanks ABCHICKEN - I'm electronically challenged. I don't text or have a smart phone, so I don't know these things........ How do you send a private message on this?

Thanks Amy. Can't afford that!

I posted this in the Emergency forum, but got crickets. I figured out it looks like an umbilical hernia, but also a cut along its belly next to it. When I found it, the broody was trampling him a little. Like she'd try to sit, but it would flop/scoot and end up under a foot. The nest and her feet were pretty bloody. I took it inside, cleaned the shavings off the wound, and put neosporin on it. Today it's perkier and the wound is drying up, but it's still scooting/hopping to move. Is there something else I should do? I figure I could sneak it back under her once it's moving around properly like the two older chicks.

Not many folks can afford GMO free food. I buy my grain from Williams in Campobello. Fantastic place with great people, grain and service.
