Hi all new peeps! I went out of town for a few days and had 4 pages to catch up on!

In exciting (to me) Lowcountry news, the OEGB eggs I'm incubating for a friend are hatching right now! So far, 6 out, 2 big pips, about 15 more that I don't see any activity yet. The last batch we hatched yielded 6 self blues but 2 died 10 days later...they weren't growing like the others. Of this batch, so far all that have hatched are bbr/silver duckwing crosses, but no self blues yet. Has anyone had experience with the blues? Are they more difficult than others, or has that just been luck of the draw? Also my son's bantam went broody while we were gone so today I got more OEGB eggs from my friend for the broody to set. Maybe she will have better luck. And finally, my guineas started back laying after teasing me back in January! Out of 9 birds, only 2 are females. Gonna set these eggs and see if they are fertile and a friend is supposed to send me some more eggs to hatch as well so perhaps I can get a better ratio. Baby mallards are 3 weeks and 1 week respectively and messy as the dickens...but oh so cute. Maybe another month or so and the oldest group will be ready for the pond. My father in law helped me cover my run with net so the birds are so happy. They roam and scratch and mosey around all day til I lock them back up at dark. I've integrated all my various aged chickens now that they have so much more space and everyone seems to be getting along decent. The only ones separate are the 10 biddies born in February who are still kept separate til they get a bit more size to them.

My husband thinks I'm crazy with all these birds, but I'm certainly having a good time!

My wife thinks I'm a bit off probably too! I am for the most part, but you know. HAHA. I have 30 in the bator myself again. Well 29. Had to move the eggs from the 30 cardboard carton to 1 18 and 1 dozon carton. The 30 carton ripped. Eggs to heavy. And one broke. Oh well.
