Yes, Jen is coming by after work to pick up eggs from me to put under her hen. I will let her tell you which ones the family decided on. Okay, actually, I think it was her hubby that decided. There will be a happy hen in the morning when she wakes up!

I am picking some runner duck eggs up from Amy after work. I can't even tell you how excited I am!! I have never hatched eggs before!

Remember all those birds across from you with Kris and Robert last Sat.? Robert has a bad addiction! Kris just has a project going with her d'Anvers so she has an excuse. Robert just has a problem!
I tried to help fill their bator but realized I didn't have enough eggs with me to send them home to help stop Robert's hatching addiction for the next month.

I just put 27 Silver-Laced Bantam Bearded Polish eggs in the BATOR

I've been waiting forever for these eggs to arrive!

I also put in a bunch of mf'd'Uccle eggs but not sure how these will do, they are kinda old but have been stored properly. We'll see!!!

I have 20 turkeys now...What cracks me up is that the 3 who were hatched by the silkie think they're silkies, and snuggle in the silkie pile at night with the rest of the silkies. The silkies don't seem to recognize them as any different, I love these birds

I give my chickens table scraps to the horror of my mother and disappointment of my dogs. I don't give them chicken or pork - chicken because that's creepy and pork because I have a Muslim friend who gets eggs from me sometimes. (I don't know that it's a no-no, but just in case. Plus who ever has leftover pork?

) I don't know that I'd want livestock feed that had animal by-products in it though. I think the government has cracked down on it since it's a vector for some really nasty diseases if improperly rendered.

I give mine chicken, pork, beef what ever I have left. Not a lot because there's not a lot left. LOL. They will eat anything from tacos to spaghetti. They're worse than my dogs when it comes to food. HAHAHA.

I am still agonizing over my poor girl... I hate that I am at work and she is home sitting on an empty nest.
This is how I left her this morning

You need to isolate her. With no bedding that she can make a nest. I use a big metal dog kennel. Keep them in there for 2 days and there fine. If they have a nest to sit on they will!
