Enola, I have 4 roos left.
If you come in the next week you can get one before he goes into the freezer. I have 2 nice Marans roos that I hate to put in the freezer but I have kept the others that I think may do better with all my girls.

I kept a Birchen Marans roo to make Olive Eggers, too.

I have wheaten Marans roos, Black Coppers and Blue Coppers for their flocks.
These bloodlines are wonderful and I am getting some incredible dark eggs from the girls already. Of course, my Wheatens have been laying nice dark eggs since last year.
I hope to hatch out about 300 this next year from all of them. I got to stop selling and start keeping more for myself. However, that means more pens. I already have over 300 birds and 18 different breeds and many varieties in most of those breeds.
I am only one person running and working this place. I am exhausted every night but love every minute of it.

You live in God's country! I love that area! Well, okay, all of SC is God's country to me but I am very enamored with the area around Charleston and Beaufort. I bought some Barnevelders from down on Wadamalaw Island , I think last year. I think the lady's name was Katheryn but can't be for sure.
 
Nadine, I saw a pic of one of your cochins on the cochin thread and i was wondering what color the lemon on top of black was called? Very beautiful! Also, I started a post trying to get people together in SC to maybe start doing some local swaps, have a few that would go to a swap but not much interest as of yet, hope it picks up! Im in Leesville, BTW.

My roo, BC, is a birchen. He is a super nice fella we hatched out here from a blue egg, believe it or not. We also have his mom. His dad was a large black Cochin but his mom is a blue birchen.
He has several daughters growing up and I can't wait to see the colored eggs from my Cochins, though some may still come out brown but I expect most will be green.
You can see a lot more photos of him and his ladies on my website under standard Cochins. And there are photos of him growing up as well. He had so many feathers on his legs and feet he could hardly walk as a chick. He throw heavily feathered chicks, too. He is one of my DD pride and joy. An exceptional temperament and very gentle with humans. Just the type of backyard pet we like to breed. His sons and daughters are taking after him in that dept. We can walk into the pen and just scoop them up, they are very personable.

On the swapping idea, that would not work for me so much. I breed a good many birds and sell most of what I don't need to improve my stock or eat. There is very little I ask for and most people don't ever have what I need. I wind up buying anything I need for that reason. Though I seem to have what others like and want, I just can't swap. Good luck, though.

Yes, I went to your page and saw them. You will love having a birchen. Good luck trying to find a birchen Cochin, they are very difficult. If you can't find one then I may have an extra still around here.
I have several of his sons that are maturing but they aren't near the beauty he is. I have crossed him back on a few black hens as you can see from my website but still haven't turned out as lovely as he is. I may cross his mother back to him since I no longer have a black Cochin roo. She is a prolific layer but right now is in with my white bantam Cochins. I have a few of her eggs in the 'bator right now to see what that cross will make. I adore all my Cochins and have way more than what is shown on my website. MOF, his mother is not even shown on my website. She's a gorgeous bird herself though.

Cochins are just awesome birds and I love all 36+ of them here.
