Snow in Hollywood, who'd a thunk it?

About 4" and waiting for SCE & G to pay a visit, since the power line is a mere 7 feet or so from the ground!

It is so pretty, I took lots of pics this morning and last night. Chickens are not having any part of it, but the dogs are loving it. I am delighted, since I've never had to deal with it for more than a day or two. The camellias are blooming!

We got plenty of snow in Iva, SC, here are a couple of pics from our area. My "Chicken Hutch"/"Rabbit Coop" is covered. I have a couple of rabbits over the chicken run. The chicks did not come our very much till it started to melt yesterday afternoon.

It is so neat to see snow all over our state. However, I am sick to death of all this cold weather. I am ready for spring now.I have to add about 8 breeding pens and I can't stand to get out in this windy cold weather to work on it. OTOH, when I hit my thumb with a hammer I can't feel it!

Okay, you got me, I don't use hammer and nails. I use screws and bolts. But it is still too darn cold!
Gotta hate this global warming crap, eh?

I agree on the weather. This is miserable. We really need to build a chicken run for the silkies out on the farm. Too dang cold and windy!

Some pictures from the farm the day after the Big Snow.

Hey SC peeps.. no pun intended!

I would post this in the "wanted" forums, but I don't know how many of you frequent that section. My apologies in advance to the mods, I hope I'm not too out of line.

I have an extremely odd request.

I will be in Charleston next week on business, and I swore to my lead that I was bringing chickens back from SC.

In hindsight, I think that Delta and the other airline passengers might take issues with "peeppeeppeeeppeeep" or "bokbokbok" all during the 6ish hour flight.

DH and I finally got a new incubator.. would anyone have hatching eggs available next week for eggs for our first hatch? I'd be able to travel half hour to 45 minutes or so (rental, so I have to be careful with gas) during the late evenings next week (2/22-2/25)

Thanks in advance for helping me prove to my lead that I really am as weird as he thinks (and for making me popular with the TSA

) PM me with what you have and what you want for them. DH really likes Silkies, Bantam Cochin Frizzles, and Japanese, I'm not particularly partial to anything myself. We have room in our 'bator for 24 hen eggs, although I hesitate to set that many until I learn what I'm doing.

Anna

PS - Get rid of the snow please, I'm originally from MI, and I don't miss that stuff. And, we haven't had any this year here, which is fine with me!

( Oh, and they don't necessarily have to be chicken eggs.

Just had to share this with someone who would get it!

I tried to explain it to my wife and kids, but they just give me a wierd look and then the kids laugh at me.

Last night I went and picked up a trio of French Copper Black Marans.

They had feathered shanks and nice colors. Two young pullets and a roo to try and start me a line of these birds. It was after dark when I got home and didn't have room to rearrange the flock so I put them in a chicken tractor for the night. Last night I worried about them and then I had to get up and go to work.

Now I am blogging about them at my lunch break, guess I got it bad. Can't wait to get home and really take a look at them and see what I have. The individual I got them from had a real nice looking flock with a couple of different lines and had hatched this batch from them. The eggs he showed me looked nice and dark, hopefully mine will too!

I completely understand! I guess we all do. I have 3 3-wk Marans - 2 black and a blue. They are very pretty!

Nyrial - I am about 4 hours from Charleston plus I'm just starting out and only have chicks. A lot of the people are in Upstate South Carolina which is a long way from the coast. But you will love Charleston! It's one of my favorite cities in the world. So great! Hope you find some eggs.
