i am setting 8 light sussex,12 speckled sussex, 30 blr wyandotte,20 jumbo ringneck pheasant sat. i hope that will be the last until fall. 1 of my milli fleur cochin hen has 3 chicks and more pipping this morning next week 2 more milli fleur hens is setting and due to hatch next week,and 1 yellow gold pheasant hen should hatch later next week. this will be my first pheasant hen to hatch her own eggs. can:t wait to see how this goes

Enola, I have a big farm in Greenwood County with fenced pastures. Unfortunately there isn't a barn of any type yet. I also already have two dogs and too many chickens.

I'm currently trying to talk my husband into another coop. The chicks keep getting bigger and what I have isn't working! He keeps asking me what my "Master Plan" is for chickens. Seriously...I'm not sure! We love them (well, the kids and I do!).

If your horses do not need a barn, I may be able to help you out short-term. I have 3 donkeys (including a baby born last week) in one pasture and 11 goats in another. But I have one pasture that is empty.

The roosters have started crowing but I am still waiting on an egg. All of mine were babies in January and we already have 61! Hopefully we will have lovely eggs soon!

sugarhillfarm, I will keep your offer in mind. But, what I would really love is a place where I can have the horses where I live. I find that it is too hard to find time to ride if they aren't with me.

Do you guys keep your water inside our outside of coop? Or both?

Depends on who is in my coops.
My free range birds do not have a water container inside their coop but they go up at dark, are locked in for the night and are let out about 7 am.
My coops with growing up chicks (I have 3) have food and water even though they are let out to either free range or out into a grow up pen attached to their coop.
My shed has a wood floor so only the ones with little chicks with mama hens has a small water container for the chicks to use inside of a wire cage so big birds won't knock it over and they all go out into the runs in the mornings when I open the pop doors. If no baby chicks then they do not have water inside those coops in the shed but I do have food containers to keep the rain out of it.
And of course, all my tractors have waters all the time.
With more than 400 birds and 27 waterers to keep up with I try to make it as easy as possible for myself. (Yeah, right!)
