Today I put up the new chain link dog kennel we got yesterday. And I have the sore fingers to prove it!

Those things are better put up with 2 people but I haven't any help so I did it myself. Now I am going Sat. morning and get 12' boards for the top and some more wire. I hope to have it occupied by Sunday afternoon. I desperately need to move growing chicks out of the brooder room!

Also, in this nice weather this morning, I put up the fence for another duck pen. Gotta put the gate on and finish the coop but I am almost ready for some Muscovy!

Gosh, my fingers hurt. I am out of practice.

Is everyone doing chicken things this weekend?

I don't want to hear it, Yancy! I know you will be glued to the phone to hear when the babies hatch out!

We have a new building being delivered tomorrow, so work will start on the fenced run, 4 x 4 posted to cement in the ground to hold up the bird netting, then to cut a door for the girls and 2 extra windows, to then be hardwire clothed and plexiglass covered to allow us to open them for extra ventilation.

We have a little time, our chicks are a week old!

Happy Chick'n around this weekend!!!

Yes it is!!! My very first egg ever... I've only had my silkies for about a week. They are by no means show quality, but the are special to me. I spent the first week waking up at different hours of the morning wanting to hear my roo crow. Sounds silly, doesnt it?

I love all my pet Silkies, too. Doesn't matter if they are show quality. Mine are for loving and they do that to me and their babies.

I've been working yesterday and today on our new coop (8L*8w*8 tall). Although yesterday SUCKED as far as the wind and cold, but today wasn't too bad as long as i stayed wrapped up. Looking forward to more warmer weather. I will post pics tomorrow when I'm done; all that is left is the front door and nest boxes. Total cost (to me) was $0. I have a very AWESOME grandmother, who also is getting into chickens. She has 3 BO, 3BR, and 1 BO roo. Her broody BO just hatched out 3 chicks. Still sitting on 12 more eggs. BUT ANYWAY, she donated some extra 2x4s, and bought all my tin and plywood to complete it, not to mention she's 70 and helped me frame it up so I could finish it!!!

Eggs will be goin to lockdown on Sunday night!!! Can't wait, they should be pipping by tuesday/wednesday.
